Instrument Panel Scratch - Repair Options

I have a considerable scratch along my instrument panel, directly in view various visual items. Not exactly sure how it happened, but I noticed a day after wiping the interior). It sucks, and I want to a least reduce the visibility of damage.

I'm looking for inputs on repair or replacement options. I'm guessing a mild abrasive/compound might work, with careful masking of surrounding areas? For replacement, I wouldn't imagine the part would be expensive (unless you have to purchase the entire cluster), but exchanging it could be difficult. Thanks for any feedback.

UPDATE: Solution found - see post #4 below.

You have to replace the entire cluster. It's tamper proof.

Just an update. After doing some research, I ended up purchasing a product to repair the scratch - Novus Plastic Polish and Scratch Remover. http://www.amazon.com/Novus-Plastic-.../dp/B000J41VDM

I highly recommend this product for this application. It has 95% corrected my scratch, and I suspect will completely correct the scratch if I repeat the process. Essentially, the first bottle is a cleaner only (just like a glass/surface cleaner) for preparation. Bottle #2 contains a milder polish, and Bottle #3 a more aggressive polish. To be safe, I ended up masking off the area first. I did a total of 2 passes with Bottle #2. It took approximately 15 minutes for the entire process, and had absolutely no deleterious effects on the appearance of my instrument panel.

Another thought... Anyone with the piano black trim knows how easy it gets fine scratches. I have yet to try Novus on the trim, but I suspect it will remove these scratches.
