Will hitting 6k rpms on first gear (one time) harm my engine at all?

I was on my way home and decided to test out the paddle shifters. I used them before but I haven't perfected using them.. so i made a stupid mistake in which I was at a redlight and i put it into DS mode and had it on M1 and when the light turned green I accelerated a little harder than usual but not like a maniac or anything (just like to test the power a bit but not too much) and i tried shifting to 2nd but stupidly i hit the paddle shifters incorrectly where i clicked it away from me with the thumb as if you would to shift down and i thought i was shifting up and i didn't realise that i stayed in first until the revs got to like 6.5k rpms and i heard the engine more than usual. I was like OH FUCK and i shifted correctly finally. I didn't accelerate hard so it wasn't like i had little time to shift b4 redline so it sat at a gradual 5.8k building up to around 6.5k for about 3 seconds or so b4 i finally shifted. Do you think me doing this for this one time might have messed something up in the engine or might affect something in the long run? I'm talking from me only doing it this one time though. Never again will i ever do it. I heard nothing wrong with the engine and got no codes or anything from this but i just got this car and i wan't to make sure i didn't just fuck something up. Btw yes the car was well warmed up.

Yeah i know but it almost did and it sat at around 6k for like 2-3 seconds on 1st gear. IDK im just panicking i just feel like that's abnormal for the engine to experience. So im fine?

You're good. When I'm up to temp on my oil I'll shift at 6.3k rpms from 1st and 2nd when appropriate a lot. The sound is. Amazeballs.

That said be careful with the paddles. If you were going faster and it somehow dropped to first it could be serious. not sure if thats even possible but still.

Let me guess you where that kid that got dropped off and picked up from the school bus stop up until like the age of 16 and wore damn near full body armor every time you went for a bike ride?

Come on dude live a little. No you won't do any harm to the engine. Stop being a vagina. Warm that bitch up and redline her every once in a while. For fucks sake you're driving a BMW sports coupe not a Ford Pinto.

I'm the same way. I worry about everything. You should be fine. It's good to open the car up sometimes but not good to downshift into high rpm like that. Few times won't hurt the car but if you do it a lot it's bad. Enjoy your car!!

!!!
My old car (2010 VW CC 2.0T) with the DSG transmission would not allow me to downshift when it would over-redline it. I'm pretty sure BMW would have the same kind of safeguard... and I agree, this engine is made to handle this on a daily basis. It's made for autobahn driving.
