E92 Seat belt butler

Both driver and passenger butler arms would extend but the seat belt slipped off the end as the arms moved forward. Looked at some previous posts on this subject, one of the suggestions was to starch the seat belts, this seems to have worked for some of us. Did a bit more digging and found that the seat belt lower attachment rail is supposed to have a 'spacer bush' on it. Although the BMW parts illustration doesn't show this item, it is in the list of parts. Purchased two (one each side) fitted them and hey presto, the arms now grab the seat belt and politely hand to both driver and passenger. The part no is B72.11.7.294.366 and costs £6.31 inc vat for the pair. Hope this is of help to others.

I knew this was a mechanical thing rather than the belt. When i swapped my interior the butler stopped grabbing the belt as it got swapped as well. I changed them back over to the original ones and they havent missed the belt since

My driver side has stopped working. When the arm comes out it's not grabbing the belt but it appears that the very end piece that grabs the belt is not extending fully if you can visualise that. Once it's out I can manually cause the end bit to come out further. Are there any fixes or is it a new part. I will try and post up a pic later.

I had the same thing. Whilst waiting for the missus to do some shopping as I was waiting it the car (sound similar to anyone ) I decided to take a closer look. I found a small pice of cracked metal in the channel (that allows the pieces to glide). I removed this expediting it to do nothing, but it's worked perfectly ever since.

This is the best post I've seen on the matter: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=623423

Thanks mate just had a look, same bit of broken metal, removed it and it's working fine. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
