Good car wash in NJ
I'm moving to New Jersey (Jersey City) and was wondering if any of you that live around the neighborhood can tell me any good recommended car wash places?

The BMW dealership in Flemington. I sell cars there. If you buy or service a car here you get free carwashes for life. Its far from you though an hour away.

I like Summit Car Wash in Summit, NJ. I see a lot of high end vehicles going through there, so I don't feel bad taking my E90 to it (no comments about hand-wash only please...)
And I don't think it should be too far from Jersey City... certainly not as far as Flemington.

But when I was in Bayonne once, I found a place, at Broadway Ave that handwashes, vacuums and dries car the old fashion way, costed $14. And its done inside a heated garage, while you wait. Its not very far from Jersey City.

I usually take my car to a place in North Bergen, NJ (not too far from the Lincoln Tunnel) called City View Car Wash. It's on River Road about 2.5 miles north of the tunnel.
I usually see other BMW's, Mercedes getting thier car washed there. They hand wash the car with wool mitts. Best of all, no automatic tracks to scratch your wheels. Its about $10 for a wash (add $2 for the tires)

They also hand wash the car with wool mitts and there are no automatic tracks to scratch your wheels. They have 3 locations: 1) 6600 Dewey Avenue West New York, NJ 2) 417 12th Street Union City, NJ 3)2314 Kennedy Blvd. Union City, NJ The last one is probably closest to you. Same one I usually go to. |

Since most people are using rubber floor mats during the winter, they take the mats out, rinse them with water, dry them off, and put them back in the cars while they are cleaning the windows and vacuuming the floors. When I got back to my car, I notice that my front mats (BMW rubber mats) were missing. I figured that with the 7 or so cars that they were working on, someone mistakenly put mine into another car. So, I talk to the manager and asked him if they could look for the mats, otherwise they would need to replace them. The first thing he asks is how much did your mats cost, so I told him they were about $75 from the BMW dealer. He then points to some cheap clear mats they sell at the car wash and tells me, "No, you take one of those sets". I calmly told him that I brought my car to his car wash with BMW mats and I will either leave with BMW mats or the money to repurchase another set. So, he says come back next week and I'll have your mats. I told him that if he wants me to come back next week, I would need that statement in writing; I'm not going to come back in a week to have him tell me he never said any such thing. At this point, he completely changes his story and tells me, "I'm the only person who removes the mats here and your car never even had mats in it." (just as he says this 2 other employees are removing mats from other cars to clean them). By this time, I had enough. I told him, "Look I'm not going to argue with you about this, but I will have this situation resolved." I actually had to call the police to the car wash to resolve the situation! Two police cars showed up, blocked the entrance to the car wash and made everyone leave. One officer took my story and the other took the car wash manager's story. After hearing both sides, they inspected my car and noticed that for a car with "no mats", my floor showed no signs of wear and still had the imprints from car mats. Finally the manager backed down and signed his name to a statement that he will either replace the BMW mats or reimburse me within 10 days. It amazed me that after all the times I have taken our three cars to his car wash, he would turn around and treat me that way. While I was on the phone with the police, my wife was trying to explain the situation to him and he told her, "That car never had mats in it, and your husband is a liar!" In the overall scheme of things he has lost my business, and lost the business of the cars that were turned away for about an hour during the peak hour on Saturday (and it was a 60 degree day in NJ today, so EVERYONE was out today). No matter how good thier services may be, I cannot continue to support such an establishment and I hope others here feel the same way (about any business that would do such a thing). I will try out "Martin's Car Wash" as West New York isn't too far from me. Sorry about this long post, but I really had to get this out.

Hey for those who live in newport, I live in Newport too kk
I'm surprised that so many members live in Jersey area... by the way the one carwash I always use is the Casino Carwash on Grand Ave. It's only $13 and they clean the car inside out thoroughly. I am always satisfied by their carwash. It is always hand wash. It takes about twenty minutes from here but I love the place so I go there everytime my car needs a shower. I want to check out the place close to here also. |
