I'd be on board if it weren't FWD.

Kill it with fire.

That's all nice and good BUT WHYYYYYY CAN YOU NOT MAKE A M440i Gran Coupé or M4 Gran Coupé? You've done it with the M6GC. However I have a feeling something nice maybe in the works for the 4 series.

The upcoming G26 4 Series GC will include an M440i variant.

What would be nice is a G86 M4 GC with M xDrive.

Neither. Unlike both the current F22 2 Series Coupe and next generation G42 2 Series Coupe, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is a UKL vehicle. So, as opposed to the 4 Series and 8 Series, the only thing this vehicle shares with its coupe sibling is a model designation.

Quote:
beacuse, if it is current series, isnt it a bit too late to launch it? i mean, new 1series will come in coming months, followed by new 2er later this year or next year, and that would mean cutting life time of this 2GC?
The only new 2er coming "later this year" is the vehicle in this thread. The new G42 2 Series coupe won't be here until 2021.

Quote:
it seems like new gen, but if it is f44, and new 2series is Gxx..
UKL vehicles do not use "G" chassis codes. The F44 is a UKL vehicle while the G42 is a CLAR vehicle.

Quote:
and it would be odd having new 1er limousine and 2gc as they are practically same, beacuse they are small and there is no room for changing size like 3 and 4.. it is ok with 3 and 4series, but not with 1 and 2
The 3 Series Sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe are not different in size. They have the exact same wheelbase. They differ in aesthetic and in that one is a sedan while one is a hatchback. The 1 Series Sedan and 2 Series Gran Coupe will differ in the exact same ways.

Yup. Audi is for people who just want a nice looking car with a nice logo. I thought Munich was better than that.

But cars like the F10, F30, etc. show people like us don't matter anymore. BMW is not much different from Audi nowadays.

I think this 2 series gran coupe is essentially a derivative of the new 1 series hatchback (UKL front-drive platform) that the european market will be getting, while the 2 series coupe will just share the same name, but ride on BMW's CLAR platform for its RWD drivetrain. I think it also has to do with their nomenclature, as gran coupes have even numbers, and they can't go into the negatives, and they refuse to call it a 1 series, so it has to be a 2 series, despite not really sharing the platform. Same thing is overseas already with the 2 series Gran Tourer/Active Tourer which aren't really related to the 2 coupe.

i did not express myself correctly, i meant mor of changing roof line, small cars dont have "room" to change it, while 3 and 4 do have a bit more different roof line comparing these 2... and again, this is more aesthatically speaking than geometric with numbers

Why can't we call this a 1-series sedan?

The 1-Series Sedan already exists, having debuted in China in 2017.
Sometime later, it was also made available in Mexico.

Looks bulky from rear end. That side line which rise from front to rear creates an ugly proportion of GT models.

They will be different enough visually to placate the market. Mercedes is doing the same thing with a new A Class sedan joining the existing (but soon to enter its second generation) CLA. And remember, in BMW’s case, in most markets, only one or the other - either the 1er sedan or the 2GC - will be available.

Not quite. For the FAAR architecture, which is the new name for UKL, the electric drivetrain will remain FWD. An AWD electric vehicle on the platform could be tuned for a rear bias, yes, but those aren’t expected soon, if ever.

At some point, BMW will no doubt develop a dedicated EV architecture for small vehicles like VAG’s MEB which takes a rear engine, RWD first approach for better packaging. But that’s still a few years off at least.

If I wanted FWD/AWD and a 4-Banger, I'd go Audi and take that nice interior along with it.
