328i vs G37(S) (vs 335i)

Well, I don't want this to be a bashing thread, even though I'm probably igniting a flame just by the thread title... But I'm interested to see if 335i drivers would have picked the Infiniti if they were told they could only get a 328i. [lets not bring the factor of new vs used here either - just new cars].

This was my choice almost 4 years ago when I was getting my first car. (Call mr spoiled, whatever, but this was the reality of the situation as it is for many around me who were also in my shoes).

I picked the Infiniti G37S sedan over an E90 328i sedan. I was all about power when I was younger. And the Infiniti delivered. I loved that 333hp NA VQ V6. The transmission was a bit clunky and hesitant; and being naturally aspirated, it lagged in downshifts and at low RPM. But the interior quality was great and the car was quite powerful, much more so than the NA I6 in the 328i at the time. I couldn't compare to the 4 cylinder in the 328i F30 now, but I probably would still pick the Infiniti today. It did falter in the handling department, and the underpowered (if you could call it that) would probably dominate in the canyons.

Although, seemingly, ever since I saw a 335i in person I wanted one. It's the car that seems to be the dream of everyone with an Infiniti G, sedan or coupe. I absolutely love my car now, and minus supercars, I would want nothing else. Not a mercedes C350 sport, Audi S5, Infiniti G37 IPL, nothing. (Unless of course I was offered an M3 or C63 coupe).

I'm just wondering how other members feel. Please comment below, and everyone remember, everyone has a right to his or her opinions, please no flaming!! Constructive arguments are allowed though haha.

Sound off! And feel free to include any other cars that you all feel ate appropriate to add to this question! I was all about speed, but the luxury enthusiast out there might have just as well chosen a benz C class over the 328 or G37. And Audi has its loyalists as well.

Edit: please disregard typos, I wrote this all on my iPhone.

Well your situation certainly isn't unique. Lots of G37 owners have switched over to 335i. I don't know many 335i owners who defected over to Infiniti.

The G37 provides great value for money just like the 335i. They are lightyears ahead in reliability compared to the N54. When I buy my first house in two years, I might dump my N54 and pick up well maintained G37S (if I get a single house over a townhouse).

In before the never ending 328 vs 335 discussion. I previously had a g35 coupe, great car, loved the exhaust note. Wanted a sedan and found my current car, couldn't be more happy. Both great cars, I'd probably take a f30 328 over a g37 now

Infiniti has teamed up with Mercedes/amg, so I expect big things in the future! But it does seem like they haven't changed much in quite a few years. The G coupe is still a stunning car stock, but the sedan is tiring/boring imo

My choice was a 2010 C300 4matic, 2010 A5 2.0t, but i was after the N54, so i got a 2009 fully loaded 335xi, and i have never even for a second regretted my decision. Love this car to death, and its bone stock, cant wait for warm weather and the mod bug to bite

I don't know much about Infiniti but my favorite-owned car of all time was my Audi B6 S4. Something about a NA V8 in a car the size of a 3 series was amazing. Couple that with the superior interior, great handling, and tasteful aesthetics, it was an awesome car.

That being said I dumped it for my current 335i as it was quite an upgrade in reliability (I replaced control arms, valve covers, coil pack, airbag light, wheel bearing, and a window regulator in the 5,000 miles I owned it @ 65K).

Next time I'm in the market for a car I will definitely look at Infiniti but I'd really like an upper C class. We'll see.

I will never switch my 328 Coupe for a G37. I will only switch for another BMW.

When I shopped around G37S coupe didn't seem to be as quality made as loaded e92 328i sport. So I would pick 328i probably for a couple, maybe G37S for sedan. My wife also liked 328 more then G37S back then. Maybe things changed in 2013

Interesting. I would be more inclined to get a 328i sedan (especially the F30) over the G sedan, but a G coupe over a 328i coupe.

The Infiniti is a great car for the money, I personally just switched from the G coupe to my E90 335 and I have nothing but great things to say about the G after owning it for over 5 1/2 yrs. Never had any issues with it even after I boosted it with over 20k miles being forced inducted.

Which is exactly what I did after the G.

The G37 is a competitor with the 335i not the 328i. Stock for stock they're similar but the key difference is the factory turbos. Factory turbo cars are easy to tune. For example a 335i with a new JB4 and BMS dual cone intakes will get you at least 375hp at the crank for just another $500.

When I was looking at cars, I was debating between the G37 sport 6sp or the E90 Lci...I went with BMW because it was such a better car and I rather chose A German car over a Japense. But if it was a 328, I would have went with Infiniti. I am a power freak lover haha

My final 3 choices this time around were G37IPL, Corvette Grand Sport & the 335is which I bought. They are all nice cars but the 335is was a better fit.

Next go will be the new C7 Vette or new M4? in 2014. So far based on early pictures the M4 is looking good.

I only bothered with a G37 lowered blacked out coupe once when he kept on my case for a number of lights otherwise I just let them go. Well twice actually when he tried a second time.

I was in the situation of picking a g37 or my LCI e90. my e90 was pricier but had fewer miles. and the power of the g37 was tempting but i went with my e90 for one reason:
when the average person sees a stock infinity cruise down the road they see an ordinary car, but when you see a BMW go down the road you see $$$ regurdless of the fact that its just as cheap as most cars out there, there is just something about the Angel eyes and the kidneys that the average person just sees superiority. i suppose mercedes has a similar effect but i hated their interiors so the 328 was my choice reguardless and i do not regret it one bit.

i catch g37s in the turns anyways
