Scratched the M-Sport steering wheel leather

Great, one more thing to worry about. I now have a scratch on the M-Sport steering wheel leather wrap. Not sure how it happened, but something dragged along the wheel near the bottom and it's not a straight line scratch, more like several little splits, like a tear or something. It's not extremely deep but it doesn't look like it can be buffed right out. Is the steering wheel made of leather or something else? Hard to tell because it's been processed so much. It feels like foam not leather. And it's very fragile apparently, just like foam... Is there a repair kit or something to make this go away?

I had scratch/scuff marks on my steering wheel. It's not a deep scratch by any means but you can see that the surface is no longer black. It's more of a cosmetic annoyance so I was thinking of the best way to cover it up and what did I come up with? ....Black leather shoe polish. Worked perfectly. Can't tell there is a scratch there anymore.

I wouldn't recommend this for serious scratches, but for something minor, it does the job.

Take it to one of those guys that repair leather furniture and vinyl. I visited one guy's shop and was thoroughly amazed at the lack of any trace of the original damage.

Imagine what he could do for an 85 year old from Palm Springs.

Let's just say we have different levels of expectation when it comes to how a leather should look and feel.

My previous cars had soft steering wheel leather and not the pterodactyl skin they use on my car. I just used nirmal car leather conditioner and couldnt feel the scratch afterwards.

Sht happens... Dont let it bother you. Its all part of having nice leather in the car.

Unfortunately i will never experience my pterodactyl armour being scratched :-p

M Sport steering wheel is wrapped in Napa Leather. One of the higher end leathers.

I personally think the M Sport steering wheel is one of the best wheels I've ever wrapped my fingers around. I love the feel.

LOVE the M steering wheel.

Does it feel like it'd scratch faster than most other leathers? Yes.

Unfortunately leather scratches. That's the cost of rocking the cowhide.

Pictures of the scratch?

When the F30's first were released, I was set on the Sport Line with the M performance wheel for $800 more. But then the M sport pack was announced, with the newer styled M wheel and the thicker/nicer nappa leather wrap. The wheel alone was worth the cost of the M Sport Pack.

#17 replies no suggestions, only people commenting on how great the steering wheel is... I don't need to hear the obvious. If you have nothing of value to contribute just stay away from this thread...

Actually, number five and six offered suggestions. You can also search google, yahoo or bing. The World Wide Web is a wealth of information.

If you post on the internet you are asking for opinions. If you don't like them and they don't suit your perceived notions then you will be disappointed. The steering wheel is high quality leather and leather will never remain perfect. Either take it to a shop for repair or live with it.
