Cabin air filter replacement

Hi

Has anyone replaced the cabin air filter in a 228i Gran Coupe? I can get the parts - seems like something I should be able to do pretty easily, but I have no idea where the filter is. Used to be easy on my E46. TIA and sorry if this has been covered. Nothing turned up in a forum search, Youtube or google.

My guess is through the glove box?!?

But I’d definitely like to know the answer too

Here are the instructions for the F40. Probably OK for other F4x models.

I did it on mine and the instructions above are correct.

It's not hard, it's just a pain in the ass to get to since you have to dive under the glovebox to do it.

Maybe pictures will help. Check attachments.

01 - general view of the area where the filters are, you need to really dive under the glovebox...

First remove the panel below the glovebox, there are two tabs you need to turn by 90 degrees and the panel should just fall down.

Second remove the single screw holding the second panel, pull from the front and it should come off easily

02 - once you remove both panels as described in 01, this is how it should look like

Once you're there just open the filter cover, pull out two old filters and put new ones in the same orientation (observe airflow direction marked on the ones you remove)

03 - close up of the filter door and hole

Hope it helps!
