My 2021 x5 makes this strange chime once in a while, an very electronic sound, a bit high pitch compared to other sounds (doors seatbelt etc). To some extent it sounds like a short doorbell chime

I am not able to find a pattern, the car can can go days without making that sound and tonight it happened 3-4 times over 20 miles.

Happens in all sort of situations, driving slow, highway speed, often after turning a corner.

I've owned a few bmw over the years and never heard that sound

Maybe warning for collision avoidance from the sensors. If there is car in front and you are closing in quickly it may give you a warning.
