Insidedoor panels...
I've developed an odd driving position of resting my left leg against the door panel, placing my wrist on me left knee, holding onto the wheel.
The F30 is the only car i've owned to have the hard plastic door handles right in that region, making it very uncomrotable (hard pressure against my knee). Between this and the volume on the right... major first world problems. Anybody else dislike the design? Pre-LCI E60s had the same crap.

I usually drive with my left leg bent and I did the bent knee thing for about 2 minutes in my F30 the other day.... Not only uncomfortable but it actually hurt! Used my beanie as a knee pad for a few minutes and decided it wasn't worth it.

I have the same problem. I have to adjust my knee position because of this. The handle being closer to the part of the hinge and not to the part that opens also makes it a bit uncomfortable to close/open door from inside. |

Although we have steering wheel on the right side so don't have exactly the same issue, nonetheless I do agree the ergonomics is not very good.
This is the first bmw (I've had 7 in the last 10 years) I've had that I cannot use the inside door arm rest as an actual armrest. Every other bmw I've had my arm would just naturally fall on to this and makes it very comfortable. No matter my seating position, I cannot use the door arm rest. |

I rest my knee there as well. The plastic doesn't bother me, but what does bug me is that it's so close to the steering wheel that there's not enough room to move my left hand past my knee when making turns. My E46 had more than enough room, I think because the grab handle on the door wasn't so huge and protruding.
