Gauging interest on an IND Carbon Fiber roof for the 1M
When the E92 M3 was released to the market, most M enthusiasts were thrilled to see the car’s beautiful exposed carbon roof. Not only did the piece add to the appearance of the car, but it also saved weight at the most critical point on the chassis- the very top of the car. Unfortunately for M3 fans in need of some extra utility, the carbon roof was only available on the M3 coupe.
Just as E90 M3 owners were left without options, fans of the 1M are also unable to have a carbon roof from BMW. IND created a one-off carbon roof solution for the E90 M3, and we are considering doing the same for the 1M. Our carbon roofs are constructed by hand at a local facility specializing in components for Grand Am, Time Attack, and various hill climb and formula car classes. Each roof has great fit and finish and saves a considerable amount of weight over the standard roof panel. IND would be happy to produce a carbon roof panel for the 1M, if there is significant interest among 1M owners. Please reply here if you’re interested in a carbon roof panel for your 1M. Update with OEM 1M roof weight- 19.2lbs

Question.. would the hood not be the same size for the standard 1 series and the 1M?? if its not then ok but if it is would it not also help if you gauged interest with non-1M owners too? Just asking

may want to push this for the 135/128 as well... they didn't have a choice but to have a sunroof here in the USA, so this would be massive weight savings for the 135.
is it possible to salvage the original roof during the install? i'd love to pick up an oem 1m roof from someone doing this for my 135! |

I'm really interested. I will ship my 1M in Sep to the US, so it would be a great idea to do the CF roof. Will it cost slimier to the E90 CF roof, and how much for the installation?

The price point will be around the same or lower than the E90 M cf roof. Install takes 10-12 hours total.

Most body shops are $60-$90 an hour. It might sound like crazy but the install is pretty simple for a good body guy.
