I don't know why they didn't design it with the larger grills, like on the pending 4 series, i4, and G80. This would have made the car look a little less vanilla. As part of the m line up, it needs a bit more distinction. Otherwise, it doesn't look nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. It's like a few people make derogatory remarks and then the herd has to wander in and echo the same sentiments. If we're lucky it's in slightly different wording. It's as if they're saying, "here I am, another indistinguishable member of the herd, Baah."

Getting claustrophobic just watching him try to get in that back seat.

Can't wait to read your reaction to the upcoming Beaver teeth "G80".
Yeah, about that. I like the ambition and sense of trying something different. It's rare in this industry. But... the G80's grill. Missed the target. Does it capture the eye? Sure but it just doesn't look good. The large grills on the 328 (1936-40) were proportional. This is not. I wanted to love it, damn I really did.

Same here, really disappointed. I'm in the final negotiations on a 2020 "CS", lack of much choice.

I was by the dealership the other day and saw one in person. I thought it was a nice looking car and I am sure it will fit someone's needs and I am sure BMW is reaching a certain market. It may not fit the bill of some enthusiasts but you guys wont be here forever.

People can hate it all they want.. don't buy it if you don't like it. Some people do like it..

I ordered one a week ago.. m235 gc storm bay, extended shadow line, pretty much all options. Moving from a 2015 2 series, as I need 4 doors.

Yes, it's fwd based,. But it's a lot smaller than the new 3 series.. Some of us don't want/ need a car that is that big. I cross shopped it to MB CLA ( huge and slow) Audi A4. (Just not a fan). The 2GC just fit my needs better than the others.. I wanted a smaller 4 door and car that has tech goodies, and some more luxury than I would get in an Acura, Mazda, Lexus etc... Would I have preferred rwd based xdrive,. Yes.. but it's actually surprisingly well balanced for a fwd based car.

Will post pics when it gets here in May.

Like I stated earlier, by today's standards it's really not a bad looking auto. Just wait till the future

Good point but then again, what is the standard now? This? I hope not.

The M235i GC makes even less sense in Europe, where we have the M135i xDrive if you want a proper 4 door, 4 passenger, small, performance BMW.

The Euro 1 probably looks odd to US eyes, but in the flesh, it looks better than on a screen. And the rear hatch means you can actually carry quite large loads plus passengers. I looked at one in the showroom recently, and in all honesty, if I wanted a hard-top, 4-door to replace my M235i Convertible, I'd go for the M135i.

Whether the fully-optioned M135i xDrive or equivalent-spec' M235i GC xDrive are actually worth £44K ($53K) is another matter.
