f30 -disappointed with sound
I previously owned a used '06 325i, I'm not sure what speakers were in it (I assume stock) but I loved the sound. I had the treble all the way up (+6) and bass +3. I was happy with all types of music, the low end felt great and I never gave it any thought. I had put 100k miles on it and it was time to move on.
I bought my '15 320 xdrive last week of dec and was extremely disappointed in the sound. I've read other people compare it to beats headphones, very 'U' curve sounding. The eq available is no help, sizzly highs and muddy bass. I decided to order the bavsound stage 1 upgrade w/ sound dampening after reading all the reviews. I've had them installed about two weeks now and found myself decreasing the eq to nearly flat. While I think they're better speakers, I still hate the overall sound. Vocal sibilance and falsetto hurt even with the eq set flat, the low mids/bass are still muddy but turning the balance two clicks forward helps. I feel like the sound is very clear and ruler flat mids, not flattering to most music. I also think the low end isn't low enough, I'm hearing the pitch of bass drums and volume of bass changes from song to song. I feel like the issue isn't with the bavsound speakers, but with the amp and underseat speakers. The bimmertech amp would also allow me to take the 2k and 150hz down a notch if it was still an issue. I'm wondering if anyone else has been in the same position and if it was worth it? -anthony Last edited by anthonyd; 02-20-2016 at 10:00 AM.. |

You mentioned the EQ. If you have an EQ then you have Harmon Kardon?
Bimmertech Amp is not compatible with the HK Audio system (or "Top Hi-Fi"). The HK uses MOST. |
