Purchased the box about a year or so ago. Installed it myself without difficulty. I really have enjoyed it. I would purchase it again.

I thought about it but I rarely need to do it. I know for the e9x it allowed the top to work at higher speeds. Does this one for the f33 allow higher speeds? I might do it if it does.

You could also try the SmartTop, fitting is plug and play, remove plug from roof module in boot area and fit harness adaptor. Set up can be done by laptop or incar. Module software updates can also be done when released by laptop. I,ve had one fitted to my F33 for 5 years now with no problems.

The one I had does higher speeds (but not ideal usually). I have it on mine and it is very good

Looks great but wouldn't want to risk installing this myself....

It’s very easy as plug and play. Roof module is next to the screwdriver under the boot floor, disconnect plug and connect to one ends of the supplied harness and the other end plug back into roof module. Instructions are supplied and you can see them on the Mods4cars web site.

I second the ease of install. I raised the speed limit for top operation, reversed the direction of the button to open and close the top, love that it is now one touch, enjoy the one touch raising and lowering of all four windows at once and love that by pressing unlock on my key fob 3 times my top drops while I approach the car... among other things. It has enhanced my enjoyment of my F33 for sure. Purchased it directly from the mods4cars site. Subscribed to their twitter feed where they announce software updates and feature adds for the various models that they make boxes for.

I can already open & close the roof by holding down the open/close button on the keyfob - I think this is part of the comfort access package.

I have the comfort access package and was previously able to do the same by holding down the button but now prefer it the new way. It's not a must-have by any stretch, but I do think the features are overall enhanced. Honestly, the motivation to buy it initially was to raise the speed limit for raising and lowering the top. The factory limit felt way too slow to me. The other aspects were just gravy.

Smart top is very easy to install. Really nice to be able to drop the top with one touch or by the remote. Easy to remove if going for a service under warranty as well, (just to be on the safe side!)
Expensive at over £300, but you can always sell it on afterwards if you part exchange.

Hi all. I just got a 2020 440i and would love to install this but the link above isn't functional. Does anyone know where this can be purchased? I used to have a similar one on my Eos and it's great! If similar, you can configure the max speed of travel while opening/closing up to 28MPH/45KPH. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone with the Smart Top module tell me what speed the hard top can be lowered and raised at as I have seen that on the Bimmercode app that I can change this value but want to know what speed is safe - having been caught out by the rain on Sunday.

I think on mine it can be set to 40km/h, personally I am very wary of moving that heavy tin top while the car is moving more than 20mph and only then only on a smooth road.
