Thoughts on high mileage CPO m235i?

Hello! I am very close to purchasing a 2014 CPO m235i, with 46k miles on the clock. the CPO warranty would run for like 8 months, which isn't much - but the price is quite enticing at 26k.

What are your thoughts on this? The carfax shows regular maintenance throughout. Thanks!

Sounds like a decent deal, is it an automatic? That mileage is not high by any means. I always would be hesitant of buying a manual transmission car that is used however as a lot of people don't drive it correctly and can have transmission/clutch issues.

it's an auto. so no worries with manual here

I did not get any PPI done for the car yet - I initially wanted to see your thoughts first, if the high mileage nature of the car would worry anyone here.

Why not a one-year warranty, 8-mos isn’t very long.

Since it's under 75K miles your probably still able to get a decent 3rd party extended warranty. May be on the pricey side up front but if you plan on keeping the car for a couple of years it's a good "piece of mind" investment.

I have used a company called Endurance on a used car purchased for my step daughter that had already exhausted the factory warranty. Car suffered from a water pump failure and a few other items couple of months after purchase and everything was fully repaired at the dealer, quick and painless.

So far the extended warranty has paid for itself, she still has another 28 months / 30k miles remaining.

Was going to say the same, seems like a good deal. Clean title, some aftermarket warranty plan, and you're set to go with the heavy discount. Can't go wrong with pre-owned IMO, just do your due diligence in regard to the vehicle's history and condition.

I bought a 2014 CPO M235i with 41,000 miles this past summer and the warranty was doubled as part of the CPO package at no extra charge. I thought that was the standard for CPOs. You should check with the dealer to be sure.

As for the mileage, as long as the body is clean, I say enjoy the ride. I certainly do.

i paid 34k for a 2014 CPO with 23k miles back in june, so that is a pretty good deal. my CPO warranty is 6 years 100k miles, which expires in may of 2020. why is yours so short?

Just get an extended BMW warranty. I think you can buy coverage up to 160k if you are worried.

Thanks for posting.. I'm considering a 2015 M235i xDrive with 47k Miles CPO unlimited mile warranty until 3/2020.. they want $33k. Seeing this.. I think I should offer $29k?

Not sure why your CPO period is short.. Are you getting confused with the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty?

I purchased a 2014 228i CPO w/ 10k miles last May, had 1 year left on existing 4 year or 50,000 miles BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

After the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires, the BMW Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Warranty coverage begins with coverage up to 6 years or 100,000 miles, expiring 4/2020. This was my experience.

Considering BMW has moved up in reliability alot according to consumer reports and 2-series is their most reliable car, maybe warranty is not that critical?
I was thinking keeping my M235i past the new car warranty, and it will be my 1st BMW without warranty. So far I have close to 30k and it feels solid.......will see. With the baby on the way ideally I need 4 doors, but I'll try to manage my coupe for the 1st year, its too hard to find anything that offers what M235i w/ 6-speed and LSD does

In case anyone is curious. I just called this company and they said they do not have any policies for m235i because it's a "high performance vehicle"

The CPO warranty is 1 year unlimited mileage after the factory warranty. So 5 and unlimited. Up to 6 means it’s optional. They may include it as part of the deal but,it’s optional. I’m researching right now. BTY the convertible top is excluded in the certified warranty.

I would think $28-29K would be a reasonable amount. I'm very much new to the site, but we just bought a 2016 M235i xDrive w/ 24k miles, with the standard CPO warranty through 10/2019, and paid $33k before tax / title / registration. I'm not sure how much that unlimited CPO year is worth, but with comps like that you might have a bit more leverage to negotiate them down.

You could always start with an Autotrader search or KBB to see what comparable cars are going for, too. That helped us out a ton in our negotiations.

Either way, good luck!

Thanks guys! Gonna try to snag it this weekend or the next, and see if I can get them to add an extended warranty as the part of the deal. I think i can point to some paint chips and stuff like that as my bargaining chip

fyi:
I bought my m235i a month ago for about the same price. it is 2015 and had 47k miles and has pdc and navigation. the warranty expires at 50k or January 2019.

my advice to you is to really try to get an extended warranty with it for 2 or 3 years. I'm looking around for warranty now and the bmw platinum warranty runs around $6000 for 3 years upto 100000 on the odometer, so do the math and try to get it cheap as part of the deal!
