2nd M135i about to arrive
To be clear, I'm not being greedy
The first M135i: My first 135 I had to give back. Not "officially" classed as a lemon but to me it was. It had this turbo wastegate rattle some others have complained of before. Except, I decided to fight my dealer for all it's worth! They eventually (after 10 months of arguing) agreed to take the car back off me and honored my deposit - carrying it over into a new order. I was more than happy with the car so long as it didn't sound like a bag of nails under load. So ordered another 135. During the wait: I had an F90 520D loaner (courtesy of BMW). Very comfortable ride, bored me to heck. They then gave me a new M340D Touring which I've been in for the past few weeks. That was a different story. Obviously very capable although I'm just not a diesel fan (sorry). Great shove but not revving out just doesn't interest me. Was surprised at how small it felt coming out of the F90. My F80 M3 CP felt bigger but I think that's to do with the stance/wheels. Will miss this car when I hand it back next week! New car details: Alpine White on black leather 18" 554M wheels Comfort, Tech packs I went with the 18's this time having had passive suspension on M552 wheels which looked great but I was never happy with the ride. So opted for the 18's/forged wheels with adaptive. Everything else pretty much the same although this time I was able to get wireless charging as that wasn't available due to the chip shortages at the time (Sep '21). Will be putting the black bits on, grille, mirrors etc. I've also got all the M anniversary badges that I bought with the last one but neglected to install in case the car went back - which it did. Picking it up next week once they've put the ceramic coating on it.

My Mar 21 M135i has now done 9650 miles and has been faultless. For the last 9 months I have been in Southern Germany and regularly drive at 100 to 130 mph on the autobahn where it is rock solid. Overall mpg, despite hard acceleration and speeds, is 36 mpg on the BMW indicator. My only complaint is the often cited initial take off with the autobox. I have had many BMW 6 cylinder diesels and I loved the effortless surge of power, but they're sold and the BMW will be joined by a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cab in early July, subject to it getting delivered. Will post a photo of both in due course.

What a beauty in white!!!
I completely agree about the wheels, in fact I love them so much I went ahead and bought a set from my dealership, but I got the ones in matte black. |

Ah wow they’re even better in matte black! There wasn’t a choice on my configurator otherwise they would be on mine for sure! Nice work

Hi Jay Ell , I have the same noise you’re mentioning and have been arguing with my dealer for a long time but didn’t come to any solution yet.. i spoke about this in the m235i section in this thread: BMW M235i GC Owners - Noise issue. I uploaded a video of the noise on youtube, here’s the link: https://youtube.com/shorts/B-Jsiy_dTf4?feature=share and had to chance to compare it to the one fellow member ChristianF uploaded as well, result: it’s the same ! I tagged also you to see if you could help me by confirming that, as I suppose, it’s the same issue you had, but I think you didn’t had the chance to reply yet (I also log in once in a while). If you manage to watch the video and let me know if it’s the same, it would be really really helpful, as this would create a precedent which I can use to go and fight again with my dealer to see if I manage to get the right I deserve, since i know I am right and there’s an issue with the car which I’ve paid good money for.
Thanks a lot again and I really hope to hear from you very soon. |

Hi
Apologies. I'm actually in the middle of a house move. Hence lack of logging in here. The packing is a complete pain! I've had a listen and yes it does sound like the same rattle, yours seems to come in 2 waves in that clip? Like it rattles, breaks for a millisecond then rattles again. Or is that the way you applied the throttle? Mine was very much a constant rattle under hard(ish) acceleration. It didn't let up through the rev range. Maybe that's just the sound recording in the clip you posted though. I now have had my 2nd M135i for a couple of months and there's still a rattle to it but nowhere near as loud as the first M135i. I'm now wondering whether this is a trait of this turbo and some examples are worse than others. How hard can it be to get this right? It's a BMW for crying out loud Quote:
