Looking at buying an 2019 M2C -- A Few Questions

I'm looking at buying an M2C, but the sales person I'm talking to keeps telling me that the competition package is a $4k option. What in the **** is he talking about? Nowhere can I find any mention that it is possible to even get a 2019 M2 in a non-competition model. Then I saw a car review, and the car review said the same thing, that it was a 4k option. I can't find anything substantial to support this. Does this make sense for anyone else? Maybe they are just confusing this with the M3/M4?

Second question..
Is it worth it to wait for a MY2020? I'm not sure if the price is going to go up, or if there are going to be any changes at all that would make it worth waiting.

And third...
Any advice for when I go in to buy the car? Has anyone been able to get them for MSRP, or below MSRP? The one I found they are asking $61k for with an alpine white manual with the executive package. I think they are adding $1k for delivery and a first aid kit?? lol... Just curious if there is any wiggle room from a buyers stand point.

There is no non-competition model. You need to find a different sales person or dealer.

Not sure where you're located but I would only pay MSRP and nothing above and surely not pay for any of the $1k delivery garbage or first aid kit. That's basically another way of charging above MSRP.

I'm in Austin, Texas. And yeah, I had no intention of paying for the stupid ass first aid kit. What a rip off. $500 for delivery I thought was usually non-negotiable? I didn't think there was a way out of that one. If you go to www.bmwusa.com, that exact spec I think is $60,100. So that is the price I'm going to negotiate for. I am doubtful they will go under that.

995$ is delivery charge present for all cars. As you said best place to check is the bmw online configurator. No changes price or otherwise for 2020. Look around the forums and find the ordering guide. It will have all details in it. You can get some discount or free bmw performance parts thrown in now as demand is tapering off.

The price for the comp did increase about $4k from the OG M2. Guessing that's the "source" of the bad info, but we're also talking about the 2016-2018 M2 versus the 2019 M2C. There is no "option" in 2019+.

And there's no reason to pay more than MSRP, with the $995 delivery charge included. Tough to buy under MSRP, but there are a handful of dealers out there that will.

$61k is MSRP. $995 delivery charge comes from BMW and is non-negotiable. Either accept the price or find another negotiation point.

I totally agree. You are lucky to find a dealer with an M2C in stock. Most parts of the country the dealers have a waiting list of buyers.

Does anyone know when the MY2020s are supposed to start being delivered to customers? If its not too far down the road, and if the price isn't expected to go up, I might just wait for a 2020, since the year sounds better, and I'm OCD AF.

Orrr.... Use that as leverage to get a free piece of carbon thrown into the deal... hrmm.. :/

2020 model year starts production March 1 2019. The first cars should start arriving in April.

Not sure why it is hard to find M2C in US as someone mentioned above but in Canada I just run 2019s Under $70 - 80k Cnd in the autotrader and there are a ton of those available

I'm not sure either. I think someone mentioned in either this thread, or another, that smaller more rural dealerships didn't get any at all, so they had to get on a wait list for them.

There are tons on Autotrader, and BMW dealerships will ship from other dealerships usually at no cost to the buyer.

many of the ones listed on AT are for advertisement and the car is no longer on the lot - call around, I am sure you will find one

If you place an order for one, it's already going to be for a 2020MY. It sounds to me like your sales person is either ignorant or thinks you are. I wouldn't pay anything more than MSRP, but know that there are still dealerships charging markups. Demand is relative to your location, but I still don't think there's anywhere in the US you're going to visit a BMW dealership and see M2C's on the lot, like you would M3s and M4s.

Yes, I paid less than MSRP. I bought mine by negotiating most of the deal by the email-- we exchanged phone calls to iron out a couple of things, but most of it was by email. Send me a PM if you want to know more about my discount or deal.

I believe the destination isn't a bullshit charge it's the cost of BMW getting the car from Germany to the USA, basically. If it was a goofy dealer charge it wouldn't be listed as part of the summary when you "build" a car on the website.

With a little research, one learns that dealers have inventory automatically listed on the internet sites. Even if a car is customer ordered it appears in the inventory. Good luck and I'm sure you'll get one!

I got 5% off MSRP for a order-build delivered 2 months ago. Paying MSRP would make you a sucker right now. US market might be different than Canadian but I've rarely seen cases where Canadians don't get the shit end of the stick, supply/demand wise.

This is true. I ordered my car but it didn’t stop it from showing up on autotrader and cars.com.

So many dealers list cars on Autotrader that are already sold but not at the dealer yet (i.e. customer ordered and allocated) and also that have actually been sold and have been delivered. They use it as a means to generate leads from people contacting them.

I was on the list at my local dealer for 6 months starting prior to the M2C being officially announced, and once cars started showing up in August, I noticed so many on Autotrader. I contacted many of them, and every single one did not have the car available (already allocated/sold when it gets here). I did finally stumble upon a dealer who got two extra M2C allocated to them due to an outstanding Aug sales month, and thanks to a post on this forum, I contacted them that day back in September and bought the exact car I was waiting for an allocation to order.

That's not to say that right now there are not a few M2Cs available in isolated pockets around the country however....just don't trust Autotrader ads to be accurate in any way.

Where is demand tapering off? The dealers I work with each have lists 12 months long. I cannot believe SF is much different.
