Is Comfort Access Worth It on a 330?
Decisions, decisions. The car has been ordered for Euro Delivery on December 19. I am now contemplating adding Comfort Access. Is it worth it? The 330 has Sport, Premium, Steptronic, Nav, and PDC. What do you Bimmer Enthusiasts recommend on this last detail? Thanks.

I, too, ordered the car. When I ordered it I made sure I add the comfort access option. (and because of this I had to wait 4 month (for september production car) to get it)
Having had my car for about a month now, I can tell you it's well worth it. Heck I'd even pay $1K for this feature. I simply cannot imagine me driving a 3 w/o it. My car actually has similiar options as yours: sports, premium, steptronic, nav, pdc, rear fold down seats, and comfort access. When you put that many options on your 330, you're looking at more than 46k out of the door. At that kind price range, what's another 500? It's mere pocket change, right? If I were you I'd rather take the risk of wasting an extra 500 bucks getting a feature you dont' really want than spend the next 4+ yrs regretting not getting it when you ordered the car. Just my 2 cents. I'd say if someone were to buy one off the dealer's lot, than obviously they have to make some compromises (e.g. maybe they can't find a car with comfort access AND all the other options they want), but since you're ordering, I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to do it. congratulations on the new car! -hkj |

I'll second HKJ's remarks. CA is totally worth it. I use it every day and am thankful everyday for it.

My only regret is not getting comfort access. I didn't understand what it was or how it worked when I skipped over it in the ordering process.
The whole process of getting the key fob out with a whole wad of other keys dangling with it, click it twice, again for trunk, put it in the slot with all your other keys jangling and rattling, then hit start button, then to stop hit start button again, push in fob then pull out to remove, jam mass of keys back into pocket is hokey--no comfort access. Fob in pocket, reach for door and have it open, hit start button, zoom off--not hokey--comfort access. Dealer cannot add it on after the fact. Get it while you can! |

btw...the active steering is awesome! I can't even drive my old car now. But im constantly worried that others will have problem driving my car...like the dealership, mod shops...etc.....but definitely CA is worth it

can you guys give me some more details on exactly what you get with comfort access? (other than the fact that you dont have to put your key fob in the slot in order to start the car)
thanks! |

Also you can open the trunk without having to use the remote. Perfect when your hands are full of grocery bags. Believe me it may not seem like much, but once you start using it you won't be able to live without it. These days I'm so used to not having to touch my keys at all. Just keep my keys in my jacket pocket, walk towards my car, open the door, start the engine, alll done without having to reach into my pocket for keys at all. |

I´d get CA before all other options. I have a rather lowly speced car because with most things, honestly I don´t need them. But CA is a must. Eypecially once you´ve had it. Now when I have to drive a rental, I get annoyed at having to handle the bloody key.
It´s one of those technical advances that you would never think of as important but once you have it and notice how mucht time and hassle it saves, you can´t live without it.

CA is the only option I regret not getting.
GET THE CA, do yourself a favor!!! At $500, if you keep your car for 3 years and use it once a day to get in and out .... it is only costing you 22cents per use. If I could take it back, I would have even traded my SG paint color for the option. |

Yeah...I'm starting to wish I got CA when I ordered and I haven't even gotten my car yet. I don't think it's a necessary option but it's definitely a cool option to have. I also think it's kinda pointless to have the push start button if you have to still insert the key.
One dumb question though. With CA can you still use it like it was a non-CA fob? So if your CA was malfunctioning for some reason. |

I gotta tell you, I ache for Comfort Access, and with a name like that, why wouldn't you get it?
I thank BMW every day I use it, it is one of the best features on the car, and as someone else said, it really impresses the friends who like gadgets.

Get it, it's an option you will not regret. I get sick of inserting the fob and then pressing start. The only question I have is how do you charge the battery in the fob? Just shove it in the slot twice a year and it's all good? You guys who have it- I'm curious, let me know.
