Fuel consumption
I drove my X4 2.0i for 3 weeks now and the consumption is way to high without driving sport or sport+ . I did a test and drove one tank in eco pro but it makes no difference . I must say that i do a lot of short distances ( city traffic ) and no highway at all but 10,6 average is in eco pro strange in my opinion . The numbers Bmw puts in the brochure are for the 2.0 i 9 in city 6 on highway and mixed 7,2 . Anyone other results ?

Hi Predator
There are always loads of posts like this, and the truth is that you'll never get particularly close to the figures in the brochure. If they say 9L/100km in the brochure then your 10.6L/100km is probably OK. The only way to get their figures is to accelerate very slowly, rarely use the brake and come up against very few other cars or junctions. It's not realistic to expect to match their figures. I have an X3 2.0d and am supposed to get 50.4 miles per gallon (UK), but in reality I get around 38-40 miles per gallon in the same circumstances that I am supposed to get 50.4. Its just the way it goes. |

Same experience here. My new X4 35i is burning way more gas than expected. After the first three tanks (mostly highway driving), I'm averaging just 22.3 mpg. Hard to believe, but this is worse than the 2009 M3 I just traded in... I was averaging just above 23 mph (highway) with the 4.0 V8...

Here my experience:
BMW 1 1.6i average 8,2l/100km Same road, other car BMW X4 3d average 8,5l/100km I only pay attention to my consumption driving home-work (traffic jams anyway). I never pay attention to it during the weekends our outside home-work traffic. I can not complain..... |

i am currently at 300kms did at 40km trip on ECO PRO with AC on with a bit of brisk driving got 14kms per liter, was very happy. In traffic I get 11km/l on Eco pro with Start Stop on my N20. Do you use Eco Pro, are you always flooring the car. When i do that it affects consumption

To clarify have reached 300kms to date on my brand new X4 N20 engine. The 7.1 liters per 100kms was on a 40 kms drive with the Eco Pro with AC on with a bit of brisk driving. It can only get better.

As others have said, mileage improves as the drivetrain breaks in/friction is reduced. |

For my experience, my x4 35i use less fuel than my X3 35i. I have the car since 8 weeks, already done 7'000 km with it and my average fuel cons. is around 9,4 liters per 100 km. It is one liter less than my ex X3. I easily do more than 600 km with one full tank. |

Yes and no. Not only Highway. Daily's drive to office is yes highway, it is 2 km of "countryside" road then 50 km of highway, and then 800 meters of city and that's it. However I do then on week mostly countryside roads, and well I travel for business, I do cities, countrysides road, alpine roads and highways. I probably to drive less often in Sport Mode, that I used to do with the X3. |
