im sure already covered but im being lazy. brake fluid .....
idrive says time to flush brake fluid. Can I just do it the old school way of opening the bleeder fitting on the calipers and smashing the brake pedal until the old is out?
someone mention it has to be done with a computer but I simply cannot believe that . |

Yes, that’s fine. You could be more thorough and do an ABS cycle with a tool, but I don’t think anyone actually does that.
You can make it a 1 person job and use a power bleeder. |

I had to do the DSC brake bleed using ISTA last year because the pedal was soft even with multiple flushes. (Manually and using power bleeder)
So the answer to your question is technically yes, you can do it the old fashioned way as long as your pedal feel is fine afterwards. DSC bleed is not required but seems like it's relatively easy to get air trapped in the ABS module with these cars.

The motive bleeder or similar tool is proven and only a few more bucks. Why chance it?
Also, I’m not affiliated but someone has a power bleeder for sale here in the tools section. |

I previously had a Motiv one, now have the Schwaben. The Schwaben is better, particularly re the fittings which allow free rotation of the hose/unit relative to the res cap. Its annoying not to have that

Just because something is proven doesn’t mean something better can’t be found.
I’ve read several reviews of people using the Motive or similar bleeder and punching air into the system then having to take it to get flushed, having mushy pedal. The negative reviews on this other on mostly say hildnthenhosenitnitnwill pop off. It pushes air up and out not down and in. Just looking into things |

I did a brake flush yesterday using the Motive bleeder. I used like 1.1 liter. Probably could have got away with 1. "old" fluid was still pretty light and had zero pedal feel issues. Was not very apparent when new fluid was coming through, just did it by capacity. Sucked out what I could in reservoir before topping up with new fluid and then connecting bleeder.
