Best BMW ad ever???

In the mid to late 80's BMW ran an ad of a black E30 showing the kidneys. It said "This weekend start up a grill that really cooks." They also had it on dealer posters. I'd love to find a mint one!

All three of those ads are pretty good! Sounds like either BMW has some good marketing folks, or have hired a great ad agency.

Does anyone know who has the BMW NA account now? I know it was Fallon in Minneapolis for a long time, but BMW jumped ship last summer with the reasoning of "finding a fresh approach to advertising."

I don't like BMW's new ads lately.
I preferred the ads just showing the cars going fast on cool twisty roads.
Now, it seems they've gone to convincing how much engineering goes into the car. Maybe over-engineering is what they are trying to overcome.
Let the car do the talking. Maybe the problem is the car isn't saying the right things? REDESIGN.

BTW Audi's 2.0 FSI turbo engine won a world wide award I believe.
One more thing, generally in marketing the top brand or business does not, and probably should not, compare it's self to it's rivals as it opens and suggests comparison. McDonalds doesn't compare themselves to
Burger King of Wendy's cause they don't have to. The bigger more sucessful brands generally go with image creation ads rather than direct comparison. Perhaps that ad is from S. Africa where BMW may not be doing as well as Audi? I don't know, just asking.
