2006 325i

I have a 2006 325i and my var won't turn on it says stater assistant inactive what does that mean ? Please help

Probably that your starter motor is broken. Take it in to the dealership.

Really? Cause it happened out of no where just says starter assistance inactive and b4 that happen I needed to change my brake pads so than
T showed up as well and next day it didn't turn on so I figure I had to replace my pads so I did. And still nothing lol sucks is replacing the starter expensive ?
