I'd pay through the nose for a B&W one [we have the 802D setup at home] but not worth waiting on the car for

Where did you get this information? And is there already a price estimate?

Well, if it isn't out prior to my planned production start... I guess I won't care, getting the car is more important to me

As stated before, B&W is listed as S6F1A = Bowers & Wilkins High End Sound System in the F30 ETK since last year.

No pricing, no availability has been announced otherwise.

Not trying to been an ass, but I'm just saying don't get too excited because BMW slapped HK on the stereo. Now if it was B&O or Merridian, I'd be more inclined to get excited about it.

.
Bang & Olufsen is bad ass isn't it!?

Whaaatt??? I would have been happy with the HK and save a few bucks compared to the EPS I know have. It was never on the order sheet. Was it also $875? Did it use an analog "head unit" or was it also digital?

My wife's 335 has the HK standard on the first year cars. The HiFi in my 2008 M3 was just garbage!!

What do you mean by "drivers?" I've always interpretted them to be anything except a tweeter or sub??

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

No offense taken. I am far from an audiophile, although I love music. I did end up going to my dealer this morning to add the HK system to my order. Drooling is good.

I know of 2 M3 in the USA that got HK special ordered for $875 and $925 - don't know why the pricing variance. It was never in the USA order sheet, and Navigation not required as in the EPS.

Ive had both. The HK is by far more "digestible".
I was one of the few who thought the individual sound in the E92 sounded great... but it did take some tweaking, a good source, and had to be really cranked up in order to hear the benefits of such a powerful system.

The HK sounds great at all volumes. Im really digging it. No regrets on the option at all. $875 is a steal IMO.

I just got delivery of a 2014 428IX with HK system. It is better than the base system but is wayyyy overratted. I agree. I wish they would of given me the option of 2500 upgrade and do it right the 1st time. I had a VW with Dynaudio System for 1000 and it was the best
OEM system I have ever heard. The speakers from HK are bright and cheap. The amp is ok and the Logic 7 is good so I am going to have to replace the front stage to Focal or Bavsound. The Subs are horrible so I am going to either swap them out for Earthquake sws or put a good JL 12W3 sub with separate amp on the sub.
I had a 2011 328IX with HK that sounded better.
I have tried to tweak it out and I competed in IASCA for 10 yrs sound quallity . Believe me I ddon't want to tear into the car but I am going to have to . It need silk dome tweaters
and better drivers and most important is the underseat subs are horrible.
Starting with new subs with a amp and then probably replace the front stage Left Center Right speakers with better drivers . Focal and Bavsound make exact fits. If the earthquake
subs don't work better I am going to put a JL 12 and amp in the back.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
I also noticed you cannot turn down the amp overall gain structure.
That is crazy...My wifes Audi A4 with B and O system sounds way better unfortunately.
Music is very important to me and unfortunately this system doesn't satisfy my needs,

Love the car though....

Haven't gotten my M4 yet, but if you have suggestions, I'm all ears (heh). I've always modded the sound systems of my cars, not for window-thumping bass, but for overall better sound quality. Will likely do the same to this.

Did you get your M4 yet, and how are you modding the sound system?
