wheel sandblasting or stripping
I have older set of wheels where the finish/primer is flaking and bubbly in some parts. I want to repaint to wheels, but to do it properly I need to remove the flaking and bubbly parts. Since this involves the primer, it is a real bitch to take off the primer to the points where it adhering well again (or to take it off completely).
If the primer was still in good shape, it would have pretty simple, just roughing/sanding the surface and then putting on new paint... unfortunately I'm not so lucky. I spent an hour on a wheel last night with a drill and a wire brush... it works but it is too slow and tedious. As such, I am hoping to find a local place that can just cheaply sandblast or strip the wheels down to the bare metal, and then I will re-paint them. I guess chemical stripping would be fine as well, just as long as I get bare metal so that I can put a nice coat of paint on. Any one know a place that will do this. They are simple 1 piece alloy wheels, no tires, no valves... should be a pretty simple job. I tried Rim and Wheel Works and they don't just strip wheels. I plan to contact RimPro, and have sent an email out to New England Soda Blasting. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Yeah, I am waiting to hear from them, but they will probably be fairly expensive. I will update once I collect some more info from the various places I contacted.

I just had a set of Volks refinished there. It's probably worth the money.
