AC Snitzer. Expensive but of interest as the warranty remains intact with a bit of BMW official support.

I guess my dream would be:-

Pops & Bangs
350+ I'm not convinced more on the platform is a good idea
OPF taken out somehow but no limp mode or warranty issues

I think above is too much to ask within warranty, at least one of OPF and Pops needs ECU. It if anyone can do it within warranty they have have my dollar dollar dollar.

Just watch with this. ACS stuff is not warrantied by BMW UK. ACS offer a warranty as part of your purchase hence a higher price. It's a great warranty and their stuff is second to none but it is still not warranty approved by BMW UK.

Have a watch of the above if you haven’t seen it before...... watch from 2 1/2 mins. Comparison of two cars on same reg plates but different sounding exhausts! Can’t imagine the difference in mileage has caused the exhaust to carbon up that much!

I've watched this clip before. I believe one is a 2019 model and the other is a 2020 model. My car was poping at less that 500kms. BMW must have changed the software for the 2020 cars.

Yes it's well known the 2020 cars (mine ) don't have pops and bangs in the ECU anymore.

A bit naff as that is part of the fun but hey ho.

Yes that clip isn't anything to do with it.

Genuinely a step change between 2020 build cars and prior M135i

Also a 69 plate just means it's registered from Sep 19 to Feb 20 so a last day of Feb registration could be a 2019 car or a 2020 if rushed through. Regardless if it pops is 2019 car. 2020 have zero pops and bangs at static revs or while driving. About 2 on start up.

I found the answer after reading through some of the M2 forums and it turns out that the Aus version does have an opf. Basically all M135i in Aus are euro 6 compliant ☹

It presents an issue for me because I cannot go to my local exhaust shop and delete the opf without a tune done to eliminate running issues like error codes and/or the car going into limp mode.

There are two options so far that I know of that can get rid of the error codes generated when the sensors detect a difference in exhaust flow (due to the removal of opf)
1) a tune or
2) installing a manhart chip that disables the 02 sensor

So until I find a tuner or buy the chip, I will have to settle for an axle back exhaust.

I found this website WebETK that gives you more info on the opf's and other car parts in general. You will need to enter your VIN details to bring up your vehicle. S1DEA is the OPF code.

If anyone has any info on how to get more sound, please share!

I took a pic of what I think is the opf and resonator? Not sure yet

As promised, pic of the underside of my UK car Feb 20 build. Very much different to yours! Sorry for crap photography!

That does look very different and probably quite restrictive.

So when was the change made?
When in 2019 did the 2020 build start?
My November 2019 built M135i doesn’t appear to do much (yet?) at just over 1500 miles.

Built November, I got it Mid Jan

Still not huge miles I know but up until recently only had a 12 mile round trip to work (reduced to zero at the mo).

Who would have thunk that we buy a new car and 10 weeks later can’t drive it.

Same mate. Picked mine up 10 days before lockdown but managed 450miles. Glad I managed to get it to be fair as the wait would have been unbearable knowing it was sat in storage somewhere and not in the garage!

So are you saying that if you put the car in sport mode and give it a few revs.. no pops and it's a Nov 2019 build? I wonder if the pops are actually restricted by the type of filter and not software?

There isn’t a sound clip on the cat back sports system but there is on the axle back system as below....

https://clptuning.co.uk/product/remu...bmw-m135i-f40/

Also the cat back race system as below....

https://clptuning.co.uk/product/remu...bmw-m135i-f40/

All the pictures look the same though rather confusingly!

BTW none of the stock examples of sound clips they give sound anything like my car so will be taking them all with a pinch of salt!

Was in touch with Supersprint the other day and while they have systems for sale they couldn’t supply me with any videos or sound clips!?!?!?!

Milltek say their axle back system is due end May with more to follow.

Guys here is a video of my custom y pipe - valves open and car under load.

I had to fully disable the ASD as the cabin sound was terrible! (It gives out a drone effect)

I used bimmercode to disable ASD

I use bimmerlink to manage the exhaust valves

Sounds great buddy. What made you go custom and not from a manufacturer out of interest?

Thanks mate. I wanted to support my local exhaust shop during these hard times. Also, I knew that I wanted a good sounding exhaust and I couldn't find any exhaust videos of our cars under load on the net so, for me I didn't want to get a manufacturer one for that reason.

I asked him to experiment with my exhaust i.e test stock exhaust without mid resonator firstly.. then try deleting the muffler. He said that taking off the muffler had the biggest difference.. so then it was just a matter of finding a muffler that sounds good.
