For the first time ever I'm glad the 1er hatch does NOT come to the US. FWD disgrace.

Absolutely disgusting, ad this to the list of things I'm glad we don't get in America next to the 2 series minivan

itll never feel the same.

even with like 200hp, RWD will always be better. Putting all the weight up front and having the turning wheels also drive just changes how the steering feels.

I drive an AWD car right now and can't wait to get back into a RWD one. IT just feels different, and thats why toyota for example made the gt86 rwd. It has way less power than this hatch, but it just feels different.

bmw doing this to the 1 hatch just means if you want a car that has practicality in their lineup and RWD you have to go much bigger to a 3 series which well sucks for people who would have been fine with a 1 series sized car

When the 2 series came out, most said it was the new, improved 1 series. Now the 1 series is reinvented as a FWD car. It's a different thing all together. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Who says BMW must do RWD in every car it makes?

I don't get it. It's like they're deliberately trying to kill their already dying Mini division...

Another sad moment in BMW history. Only rwd hatch in the market is gone now.

I agree. The only thing I thought was cool was the sport seats. But I only mean that in the context of what segment the car is in. Other than that it's crap especially no RWD

I do like a neutral rwd car that doesn't understeer at the limit, but most of the modern mainstream BMWs sure understeer instead of neutrality or nice progressive oversteer. I just did BMWs autocross event with the new G20 330i M Sport, and yes it was a fine car, but a far cry from BMWs circa 1995-2011. It sure started to understeer when coming to the limit, unless deliberately prodded to a slide (which we really could t do) I had a 2007 BMW 120d M Sport while I lived in Germany and it was an amazing car, but for 2 people... The rwd at that size with a big rear tunnel doesn't make a great family car so I understand the fwd/awd move for the 1 series, more mainstream clientele and roomier cabin to compete with higher end Golfs and Merc A classes. . As long as they keep making the 2 series rwd and maybe move away from staggered tire sizes, we'll have nice cars to look forward to in the future

I hope it never makes it to the US. Ugly little POS.

Adrian van Hooydonk must be po'd his design team couldn't fit larger kidneys to it. Maybe when the LCI comes out.

BMW did. Remember the ads where they switched the legs on the rabbit?

I like this a lot, super handsome hatch and love the interior. It's too bad hatches and wagons don't sell in the US. Kudos to BMW, can't wait to start reading reviews about the drive.

I hope that there are a number of new news articles this week so that this new 1 series disappears off the main news screen quickly.

All criticism aside, I think BMW did a great job in regards to the 1 series' exterior and interior. It definitely looks the part
