With this design I have to find the key fob for when I want the cool sound (remember there is no performance benefit per BMW). In my pocket? Oops. No. I left the fob in the house. Now I have to drive back home to get it so my car will sound cool.

Overall a fail. Very expensive, poorly designed gimmicky remote control for the sound, no performance gain. Do we really need a remote control for my exhaust? I don't need it or even want it. The exhaust does look nice though. I have the BMWP exhaust on my e90 and e82. Both are winners. This one - not so much. Hope the base sound with exhaust is enticing enough that I won't be compelled to spend money on any system. If not, and I'm compelled to spend money on one then this one won't be on my short list.
Maybe the Jb4 will have the option to open or close the flap. I am assuming that is what the fob is doing? I have MPE on my M235i and can control from my steering wheel on the flap settings on my exhaust with the Jb4. Maybe? Time will tell.

Kind of got carried away with my rant. Sorry.

Bottom line for me is it looks like a great exhaust. Just not for me. Hoping that the base exhaust will be good enough. My BSM went into production 36 hours ago. The wait is brutal.

"Q: How do valves operate on the M Performance Exhaust?
A: Valves are solely driver-controlled using an included bluetooth remote. The exhaust valves do not automatically open or close at a certain RPM.
[From Jason: the remote may come in packaging which should fit in the cupholder to act conveniently as a remote holder]."

Once people start buying the MPE's for their M2's. I'm going to pick up a stock M2 used exhaust for $150 and try to do an exhaust mod that I did with my E90 M3. If I am successful with the outcome of the sound I will put MPE exhaust tips on it and call it a day and save around $3500.

Although it is a poorly designed, gimmicky, very expensive, no performance gains, inconvenient extra.....I also want it. #scenepointsbro

The ability to open and close valves should've been a standard feature in all M cars and not a $400 fob.

This. I have no idea why you'd want to bring it anywhere other than where the car is going.

I'm pretty sure the fob will fit in the glove box, or the center arm rest, or the door pocket...

In Germany the car loses its street legalness if you press the Bluetooth button. That is why this cannot be operated via the regular buttons.

Does the MPE reverts to"normal" (in this case Sport) each time the car is restarted or it stays to the last setting?

Anyways, I do find it cool the system is activated via Bluetooth, but it could have been incorporated with a button like in Porsche IMHO.
