Stage 3 LPFP

Looking to place an order for a stage 3 LPFP from Fuel It

There are a couple of optional extras available
  • Hobbs switch
  • Return line fitting

Anyone know what the these are for and if they are needed?

You will need the hobb switch champ. Return fuel is not really necessary I have been told but then my mechanic said to get one.. Stage 3 with pi and fuel line and sensor will be around $5k mark give or take with install. I actually messaged Steve from fuel-it last night and he said I should get one but hey I am only going by what he said.

From what I've read Hobbs switch is to call for extra fuel under boost? What controls the Hobbs switch? Is it wired into the JB4?

The Hobbs switch is part of the TBI kit. It fits into the charge pipe and is set at a particular boost pressure e.g. 15psi to activate. Once the Hobbs switch is activated, it connects power to a solenoid in the fuel line which allows fuel to the injectors in the TBI. I cannot see why you would require a Hobbs switch with the Stage 3 LPFP.

I would say all Aussie cars need the return line fitting as our cars run a return line to the tank?

"Fuel-it Stage 3 LPFP
Return line fitting

- This option is for those customers that will be running an external fuel pressure regulator (FPR). You will need this to install your return line from the FPR to the tank.
Hobb's Switch
-This option is for those customers that will be using a boost referenced switch to trigger the secondary on their Stage 3 pump."

The Hobb's Switch must be installed in the charge pipe as per the requirement for the TBI but in this case, it is used to trigger the secondary walbro pump in the Stage 3 pump when boost reaches 15psi.

The stage 3 uses 2 walpro 450 pumps. The Hobbs switch turns on the second pump at 15 psi so you don't wear them out. The other option is to use the anti lag wire from a jb4 g5 but then you loose anti lag so I went with the Hobbs switch.

I know the feeling of wanting to find the info you're after same day here without waiting to hear back from someone in the US but just ask Steve to give you a run-down of what you're buying, what bits it needs and how it works.

Chris at BoostConcepts has something in the works too so it might be worth holding out for that or chasing an update from Chris.

Fuel return line I forgot it's been so long. I think it's for if you are not running a fuel rail. Sorry. Can't remember. Give Steve a buzz or shoot him an email with your current and final goal setups. He's good at replying. He's west coast so I'd wait 4 hours from now to call.

Thanks Brad, no rush. Appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge (that's what's great about this forum). Good suggestion to speak to Steve I'll do that. Cheers

ugh hobbs switches, god I hate them so much. Does the 335 run a dual voltage pump feed stock? As in runs the pump at say 9v at idle up to a certain load, then switches to 12-14.4v? It's a better way of doing things, some jap cars do it that way so running massive pumps is fine, you dont overrun the FPR at idle but you get all the fuel you need after a certain point.

Not that I'm aware of. Steve from fuel-it and Jake from motiv said Hobbs switch or anti-lag off the JB4 were the only 2 options.
