So are we finally past the HPFP issue???

Have not seen much in the way of whining about the HPFP lately on the board.
What's the consensus? Did the new p/n and software fix the issue for good?

Yep, it has been very quiet lately about the HPFP issues.
The majority have gotten them replaced once or twice.
That leaves the few of us, with 08-09 models that are running around with the OEM bullet proof ones HPFP.
In my case i just broke the 9000 mile mark, so for now im --->

Ps...........i refuse to have the recall done. "If it aint broke, dont fix it"

No problems, after 15,000, in a 2010. A friend here is at 48,000, in a 2009, and no trouble. Seems like it's the same 3/4 whiners who like to stir the pot. They must be looking for something (out of a lease? rag on the 1 series? lawyer looking for class action? Green public transportation guru?). Wouldn't you sell or trade-in for something else if it was that bad? Do they really even own one?

janism isn't yours a N55?

+1 for 2008 HPFP

I'm 2 weeks away from hitting 60K on my original HPFP

But now I think I may be having injector failure. I got a yellow CEL 3 weeks ago and the engine been making a lot more noise than usual under the hood

Just bought an '09 with 4400 miles that never had any problems. Had the recall performed before buying (446 pump and software update).

6 weeks and 1000 miles later, I had misfiring on cold start, white smoke out the exhaust. Restarted car, check engine light on. No code reader, taking to dealer tomorrow. Service Advisor alluded that it might be related to the recall work done (didn't quite catch what he said), or injectors, but won't know until they can read the code.

A little frustrating, but the whole package (135i) is perfect and worth it to me. I knew about these potential problems going in and have no regrets.

Had something like that a few weeks ago. Kept getting a check engine light and I would notice a slightly higher rev than normal to get power. Turned out to be a inlet vanos solenoid and not the HPFP. Take yours in and tell them you 'feel' an inlet solenoid is failing. They'll think you're some kind of savant.

Took my '08 in for the HPFP recall check with 35k. They did the reprograming, replaced the pump, and also replace 5 injectors. I never had any real complaint about how the car ran, except for a sometimes lumpy idle after a cold start.

I am on of those '08s with good original HPFPs but succumbed to the new pump and software and with 4 new injectors just to get the recalls done (ive had 0 problems). Now when I open the driver side door to my car, the pump priming noise has a totally different sound to it and I've been getting a few 2-3 sec long cranks - def longer than before.

Crossing my fingers.

I've already inquired about the recalls. They told me that although my car falls into the heart of the injector recalls it isn't eligible for injector replacements.

Let's see how long that attitude lasts when my injectors fail in a month

Mine failed at 9,000 miles. Was fine after that, but 3 months ago a recall replaced it again. Never had an issue after the first failure. I'm at 40,000 now.

Do you wait a second before you turn it on. As in like have the key inserted, but not start it. I would assume this would prime the fuel pump and would have no problem starting, but it's not the same as having a key. With my car, I turn they key and wait a couple seconds, then turn it on. Apples to oranges, for sure.

My fuel pump is going as we speak. It will be my third in 25k. I see no improvement, just less complainers.

I do my own oil changes just to ensure they can't jack with it! Car runs and starts great.
