This is going to sound stupid...but how do you get the cars that are on the top of the lift? It doesn't look electric...I've always wondered this.

They're electric/hydraulic and lowered/raised by cable with removable ramps.

These are the only pictures I could find quick that shows one lowered.

BTW..that's how you replace the heater core on one of these pigs. (AKA my buddies ZR-1)
