Idrive stays on long after engine was stopped

Hi I am currently driving a 228i loner while my x1 is in the shop. I noticed that idrive 7 stays on when the engine is stopped. This happened when I was waiting for my roommate in the car, and I noticed that carplay and interior lights stayed on, even after like 20min of waiting.

Is this the new norm for newer bmw? The tech in my 2018 x1 is ancient so I dont know if this is normal.

Mine will stay on for a while, maybe 10 mins and will go off if the driver door opens

Normal behaviour is for the car to be in a ready state unless the door is opened, then it'll turn off.
