Interesting. I would check to make sure that the clear coat you used specifically had "UV Protection". Doesn't work without it. Otherwise, list the brand - others may want to avoid it.

I used the Meguiars heavy duty kind. Lots of good reviews even from this forum. When I did it, they came out super clean and shinny. I was really satisfied with the end result.

I took my e90 to a shop to get a headlight restoration and they turned out great... until I turned my lights on and saw all the swirls on the lense I think I will just have to buy a new lense.

That's what I'm contemplating on doing just don't know if I'll be able to unseal and reseal it properly

From the video it seems that the clear coat acts to fill voids/pits in the lens. Did you find this to be true?

The results look impressive, so much so given your experience I'm considering doing the same.
took me about an hour to restore the lights and another to paint and polish them, they were very pitted cause the car had 200k on it and they were yellow, and they look like new now.

Does it last (when you seal)?? On my 1998 Nissan I simply used Comet, and not joking, it looks great for a month at most, then comes back. They key is I never sealed it.

Now, we have another 2006 car, in addition to my wife's 2011, both still relatively clear with xenons...so I would restore these more seriously than I did with the Nissan, when the time comes. Since my 335i is garaged I think it will be a long time before it needs the procedure. But I gotta tell you that H8 angel eye replacement is a PITA!

To be honest, this is the first time I've used the kit. I noticed very slight swirl marks when the lights are on and after viewing the video, I may try the sealant spray and see if it fills in the swirls.

Try applying some nail polish remover on the painted area. Rub it with a cloth and it should start to eat it away.

Haha I found paint remover more effective but it takes so long and it's like once I get the paint off there is like a second coat of black paint. The struggle
