In all honesty kinda disappointed in payment structure
So i drive a M6 got a smokin deal in December on a 2014 M6 Coupe. Got 15k off list. After seeing these M4 prices/residuals I figured out a payment on a 76k MSRP M4 with 3500 down is only like 300 less than im paying now and with the 3500 down that eliminates all payment savings for 1 year anyway...What do you guys think? Im rethinking bc Id rather have a M6 truthfully then go with an M4 for basically the same money imo

It's NEVER a good idea to buy when an M3/M4 come out.
The M6/M5 got killed in all the magazines and in less than a year, BMW couldn't move them anymore, so the BIG discounts started to roll in. I'd keep the M6 another year and reassess the M4 then. .

as much as I'd like to believe that I would prefer an M3/4 over an M6, because it will certainly be more thrilling to drive, if you handed me the keys to either one, I'd probably pick the M6. that said, $300 per month is still a significantly higher payment by most people's standards.

+1 exactly!! Theyre all over Audi's right now yet when I drive them they feel nothing like Bimmer's. Drove standard A7 back to back with 640 GC, they love the A7 to me felt much slower and handled worse...

Are you crazy? Going from M6 to M4 is ridiculous! M4 is boy's car and M6 is men's car Joking M4 is going to have plastic everywhere and rattle all over the place. Do you track your cars all the time? If not? I wouldn't even bother.

Wait and test drive the M4 then make a decision. I wouldn't rush anything and drive the M6 for now if I were you.
Kinda off topic but how come M6s take such a big hit in depreciation when looking at the used market?

Think about it like this if I got 15k off list which was like 6500 below invoice, it means they had some good holiday specials but also the dealer was willing to dip into his holdback to make the deal. Right now on all 6's including M6 they have a 7500 build out credit. If you take an M6 with a MSRP of 120k for example the MSRP is 8% over invoice (9600) If you got the 9600 off + the 7500 buildout credit thats $17,100.00 off list without them even going into holdback which maybe they would. That kills resale prices. The good news for me is even with those huge discounts you can't get to my low payment bc the residual is less and rate higher than I got. My plan is to put it on swapalease.com when Im ready to move on.

I don't and I had the same sentiment. My original thought was I can get M4 for like 850-900 which is a huge savings with all the performance + better handling but once I saw the residuals realized the savings wasnt what I thought would be. I agree the M4 is seen by me as a much lesser car but if the savings were what I thought I could do it, but theyre not so....

As for the power the magazines wield: Not amazing at all. They test all the cars against each other and write reviews on how they stack up for consumers to read. They SHOULD have lots of power. The only real disappointment with the magazines is their unwillingness to really criticize a car. I suppose advertising dollars has to do with that though. |

Yea I never said I want to display a wealthy image anywhere. I may have said I dont want my 80k M4 looking like a 40k 428 M sport, but thats the extent of what i said. Im not cross shopping I was figuring I could save quite a bit of money until my other car I ordered comes in but its just not the case at the current price points of the M4, so Im sticking with what I have. I wish the M6 weighed like 700lbs lighter believe me, I dont like that aspect at all.

You are a bit misinformed as well. M6 and M5 are both faster than M4 and M3. Its just that the M3 is quicker off the line but past 60mph all the way to 200, M6 will destroy them. This has been the case in every generation of M5/M6. There is also the muscle car feel to these cars. With the competition package, they sound like a corvette zr1 whereas M3 will sound like a leaf blower. And believe me the sound dominates in everyday driving. You can hear an m5 coming from a mile away, the same isnt true unless you spend 5 k on the new m3 and even then it will sound like a turbo japanese car not a super car. Sad but true. Each car targets a different demographic audience. M4 is more for the young and bachelor crowd whereas M6 is more exclusive and is targeted towards an executive presence. It costs about 90% more (base pricing). If you actually sat in one and drove one, you wouldn't even attempt to compare them. I sat in an M4 and drove an M6, they are totally different cars. M4 feels like a go cart with lots of cheap plastic and small headroom, M6 is extremely high quality, more roomy, yet it will go head to head with a z06 in a 1/4 mile.
