***Random Pics With The New Tripod***

Well I got myself a new tripod, so that means some new pics.

This time I thought I give the 50mm f/1.8 a try, haven't used that much previously for my carpics. I also used my 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens.

Cool. I just now saw the photo of the tripod. I've heard good things about Manfrotto. Which model is yours and how do you like the build quality? Thanks and sorry for the off topic

very nice shots.

How do you like that 50mm F1.8 lens, i was thinking of picking one of those up as well, they are relatively inexpensive

This tripod is just awesome, so solid and so versatile. It's called 055XPROB with the 804RC2 head. Their's also a smaller version, called 190XPROB.

Here's a review:

Looks great remmib we've got a couple manfrotto setups over here, love them both!

The 1.8 50mm produces nice results. I've got a 1.4 55mm and its difficult to use when shooting cars because it is so zoomed in. Is that the reason why you don't use your 1.8 as much? I wish I could use that lens more because it looks great in low light.

Yes, it's the cheapest lens from Canon I think. And it produces very sharp images.

But I don't like the AF on it and the build quality, often the pics comes out abit unsharp when I use AF.
So in these pics I used MF and the Live View funktion on the 40D with it's 10x zoom to focus on the car, and thats worked out great.

<highjack>I took my 50mm 1.8 to an Auto Show indoors and it was too zoomy on a cropped sensor SLR. I had to back WAY up to get the cars in frame and with people bustling about, it was all I could do to avoid the crowd. </highjack>

It's the OEM CF spoiler that I got at my dealer, of course with perfect fitment and a steep pricetag.

Yep same problem. I was using a D80 and that 1.4 55mm lens wasn't even usable in tight spaces. I really wish Canon would just release the 'new 5d' so I can upgrade to a proper full-frame. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later.
