Check out my 330i 0-120mph + G35 105mph VIDEOS

Hey,
So i was kind of bored last night so i made two videos. I just wanted to compare between my step 330i and my brother's auto G35(280hp). Well overall, the 330i felt a lot smoother and stable and a bit quicker when accelerating and interestingly in the same stretch of road i was able to hit 120 in the 330i and only 105 in the Infiniti. Although that may have been attributed to the fact that i just felt 10x more confident braking in the 330i than the infiniti. But still why do i feel like the needle flies up faster in the 330i esp. top end from like 90-105. The 330i from 90-120 was absolutely incredible! The power just refused to let up. THe G35 really started to lag around 90.

Anyway here are the videos, enjoy:
and yes these were done on a public road but its late at night on a sunday night with absolutely no traffic and many precautions taken so no lectures please.

330:

G35:

*EDIT-i had to change the video hosting site to streetfire.net
cause zippyvideos.com is terrible. These should be better quality +sound is better too.

I guess I never really took it from 0-120, rather from 60mph or so on to and past, but never realized how fast it gets there from a standing start.

awesome dude!!! The 330 does seem to have faster pick up. Also, I timed the 0-60 time with my computer clock and the 330 gets from 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds. The G35 got about 6 seconds. I did this a few times and the results were the same. hmmm...also what's that "limit" signal???

Thanks for sharing. Awesome vids.

Im curious to why the limit came on. My 325i was pushed to 120 while racing a camaro, and it didnt come on. But that is still amazing how the 330i picked up so fast from 0-60 mph. BMW and Nissan have the best 6-cylinders engines!

You can set your own speed warning signal in the e90 that why the "limit" sign came up. It looks like he set his at 100.

OK I don't want to start a flamewar here, but we(as in our dutch BMW forum) watched the 0-120mph tacho movie about 30 times and we guess the needle/speed/movie is manipulated.

A 330i step won't go in about 12seconds to 160kmh/100mph(that's E46m3 territory almost) 15seconds would be average.(For a manual gearbox)

Correct us If we are wrong(which seems we're not...) but those movies are pretty easy to manipulate with sound being equal.

Please respond. I don't believe this movie sorry

moviemaker is cheating.

I drive a 130i, 0-180 km/h in 18,7 seconds, this car in 14,33 seconds ??? that's fast like a M3 e46.

Look at this movie 130i in germany and compare.

I love BMW but how many of us are aware of the infamous BMW speedometer error? They tend to be a little of the high side of the speedo. Better to have a 5th wheel for true time and speed readings. In any case the 330i rocks.

Reckamech, agreed, but this needle is going(way) too fast compared to my 330i and Rico's 130i. Check out the other German 330i 0-200kmh vid somewhere in the video forum around here(The guy who traded in his 330i E90 a few weeks ago and now drives a E90 330d)

Everybody can spot the difference...

It amazes me how the Steptronic engages gears like a manual transmission!! There is absolutely no decernable torque-converter slip whatsoever!!

The shift points seem correct to me based on experience. He's not using step as suggested above. He's in Sport Mode, which I find to be much quicker and precise than Step mode. I timed that video to be about 5.7 sec to 60.

On my 330i I've noticed the speedo overstates my speed by about 3mph according to radar equipped speed limit signs.

Yeah, i set it to 100mph. In everyday highway traffic i try to avoid taking it over 100 so its just an extra warning in case im not looking at the speedometer.

Yeah, the BMW d/s mode is incredible and lightning fast! I still wonder why people call it a slushbox. I want to see a manual driver keep up with this thing.

Okay I knew someone was going to bring this up. FIrst off -I'm not even very computer illiterate. Getting the videos onto the internet was a challenge enough. You can hear me talking normally, you can hear the bmw chime come on during the run itself(sounds absolutely normal lenght), the shift points and the engine sounds exactly how it should if u own a E90. This movie has not been manipulated. I have 3 other one's from the same night if you'd like to see. My 330i does seem abnormally quick. I wanted to know why this is. Btw you guys should be measuring @apprx. 64 mph to 60, 85mph to 80, and 105 mph to 100. because of the speedo errors. Still it reaches 65(60) in 6.2 85(80) in 9.3 105(100) in about 13.5. That last number is what seems odd to me.
If anyone lives near me has a 330 and wants to measure i'm up for it cause im curious myself now. My only explanation is that the conditions were perfect. Empty car, low tank of 93 octane gas + cold night. I'm not going to debate the authenticity of the video b/c i did not make any changes to it. Like that sounds impossible, that's why i kept the audio on for a reason. Maybe if it was silent it would be easier. But how do u just speed up the acceleration part and then keep the sound, sounding the same and then match it up and put it all back together? There would be too many discrepencies even if you were able to do it. That sounds so complicated. Also you cant compare how fast the tach needle rises in mph to kph. The spacing is a little different. 60mph is lower on the mph cars.
