belly pan question

Hi Everyone,

I have a question for you concerning the height of the OEM felt belly pan.
I know this pictures aren't the greatest, but hopefully good enough to get
a decent visual.

My pan is somewhat beat up, but still usable. I have a Turner pan that I'll
install once this thing is completely trashed. Or I scrap/rip it off someday

It seems like I'm scraping it more than usual. Maybe it's because I don't
drive it as much as I used to

Based on these pictures can you tell, if it's hanging lower than it should be?

it looks about where it should be. if its connected to the rear fender liners, its where it should be.

Makes me wonder about replacing it with the Turner model.
I thought it would be a little higher.

I have a turner plate installed as well. Sits much higher than the stock under tray. The picture above shows it well.

Thanks much for the replies. I appreciate your insight.

For you guys that have the Turner pan, do you really like it?
Was it fairly easy to install?

Easy install, be very careful with the screws. I believe this pan has save me several times from road debris from tires , metal parts, etc. Mines has quite a few "battle scars".

Yes it was fairly easy to install. I was able to perform it with just having the front end on ramps and having myself on a creeper. Although I was a bit limited on space, I managed to get it done. If you have the ability to raise your car a bit then it'll be a lot easier. Also, if you watch their install video, it helps out quite a bit. Make sure you don't tighten up the screws too much as you're aligning the pieces. Go back at the end to tighten everything. Don't over tighten the screws, they can strip easily.

I really love this skid plate. There were times on the highway I could not avoid certain debris and provided protection to the car. I replaced the oem one because it was destroyed from hitting something on the freeway.

Anyone try this belly pan? https://cmpautoengineering.com/colle...nium-belly-pan

Any other pans worthy looking at now? There seem to be a few options available now

.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I had the turner belly pan on my previous e92 M3
- it’s too heavy
- inspite if using anti seize the hex bolts still rust/get stuck when you need to remove the pan for service needs
- yes, it’s pretty solid but too heavy, in my opinion.
I am considering Mporium belly pan.. not sure if it’s solid enough but definitely lighter. All aftermarket belly pans improve ground clearance as they are flat or almost flat, unlike OEM felt pan.

The drop down “boxes” are there for a purpose and it’s to control the airflow from mixing with the wheel well to minimize lift on the front end. Turner completely replaces them with a flat aluminum panel. Turner definitely could’ve used a thinner gauge and it would’ve provided the same protection.

I’m not familiar with the Mporium under belly but I believe it eliminates the “boxes” completely just like the Turner tray.
