Equal length midpipe

Hi everyone!

Last year I had purchased 2020 M4 which came with catless downpipes and single midpipe. The exhaust sounded great and I had no complains but then after hearing the v2 Valvetronic equal length midpipe I decided to pull the plug and order it. With Valvetronic you get the full cat-back exhaust system and there is no resonated option (like they have for AA). Now don't get me wrong, the exhaust sounds amazing 90% of time, however, as I have catless downpipes I get the 2k rpm buzz which is fine when I am driving as most of the time I just end up using paddles to shift between gears and avoid those rpm's. However, I often let my family members drive the car and whenever I am in the passenger side, the car stays in that 2k buzz range pretty much the whole time unless I put the gearbox in the most aggressive shift setting which isn't ideal for London driving..

Now the two options that I am considering is to either purchase an OEM downpipe (when I bought the car it came only with catless downpipe) or get a sports cat but I am concerned that even with sports cat I might still get the buzzing sound? Is anyone running the V2 Valvetronic equal length set up with sports cat and could confirm? From the sound quality perspective I understand that OEM will probably be the best bet but I would like to keep the exhaust as loud as possible.

Also, I considered running a reasonated downpipe but reading here on the forums it sounds like it kind of defeats the purpose of having an equal length midpipe and the OEM downpipe option sounds much better. Any feedback from the v2 Valvetronic equal lenght owners is highly appreciated!

I recommend the high-flow catted downpipes to keep the aggressive sound and reduce unwanted noise.

If you get the stock downpipe, there will be a night and day difference in sound vs. your current setup. I don't think you will like how quiet it will get.

Resonated for less rasp or catted for less volume and rasp.

200 cell catted is a happy medium between cattless and the factory downpipe.

The catted downpipe will trigger the check engine light if your car is not flash-tune. Unless you get the active autowerke catted downpipes.

Not apples to apples but a buddy has a s58, stock downpipes and equal length and it does exactly what you are describing. Nature of the beast. Put up with it or move on to something else.
