CCID397 - Help please!

I disconnected my battery today for a few minutes and have since had CCID397 error message which I have looked into and understand is the Auto Stop-Start system wanting you to reset the gearbox neutral position.

Can I reset this myself with a combination of button presses or does it have to go to the stealers or a specialist with an INPA or Bavarian gizmo.

Please help as my severely bruised ego and soon to be bruised wallet cannot take the shame of a self-induced expensive mistake.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this can be reset without a scan tool. Have you looked into INPA and the cable? That stuff is all over eBay and it isn't too pricey. It's good to have for stuff like this especially if the dealership is too expensive.

There seems like loads of different inpa's - what is the correct model number I need? Presumably I need the cable for the e91 too??

Gonna weigh up cost options of buying my own versus a garage to reset it.

Anybody know what to do with CC ID 397 before it has to go to the dealers? Sick of having the warning light up now.

Got this fixed a while back now - just posting this to help anyone searching for it in the future. I took my car to a local specialist who used his Delphi gizmo to plug in and read the fault which was a gearbox neutral calibration fault i.e. it has lost the neutral position for the gearbox so therefore prevents auto stop / start working. It was a quick fix with the Delphi and has been fine since. For reference I used JMC at Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, UK and they are now aware of CCID397 if anyone else should come across it.

Cheers.
