Is the G05 X5 in UK showrooms yet?

Starting to get intrigued by this, has anyone had a look at one yet?

Standard air suspension and a very good level of equipment - the new emissions tests seem to be doing BMW customers a big favour.

The Dubai showroom/pics thread on the main page is interesting.

I was in a showroom yesterday, but didn't see it.

Mind you, it was an Audi showroom

Spoke to my local dealer and it turns out the end of November is when they expect their first one.

I’m very interested too. Prices up expensive though and it seemed to me you’re forced to take option packs as the component parts aren’t available stand alone. This adds to the financial bloat unfortunately, doubly bad on PCP as the packs become worthless the moment you drive away.

There is absolutely no chance of a deal at the moment and I certainly wouldn’t buy until the usual discounts and support are available.

As an alternative I’ve had a look at the Q8. The interior is very impressive, even the touch screen tech, but I’m not sure about the overall look. Also the new Merc GLE has just popped onto my radar.

Problem is all these SUV’s are new out and won’t have any deals on them for six months...

Yes, I think the X5 will definitely be a case of wait for the deals. I've looked into the X3 M40s recently and they are pretty pricey even now. The X5 doesn't seem to want for much as standard though and (to my eye) is a big step forward in styling, whereas the X3 was a bit too same-again.

The Q8 looks a little impractical (boot etc.) - what did you think on that front? A little too over styled for me as well.

I haven't looked into the new GLE, I am guessing that the interior would make it a no-go for me - current mercs give me uncomfortable flashbacks to 90s 'plush' nightclubs

Not sure if it's your cup of tea, it isn't much mine, but Stratstone have some amazing PCP deals on the Velar right now. It's just diesel 4 cylinders I think, but a hell of a lot of car for £400 down and £400 a month - there are models either side of that price point. Disco V6 HSE is also cheap (for a disco) at something like £619 a month iirc.

Yeh the boot seemed small-ish on the Q8, but not as bad as the sloping tailgate would suggest. What I’d miss is the big under floor area the X5 has. I find it super useful for all sorts of stuff, including leaving my laptop under so it looks like there isn’t anything in the boot should some sh1t check it out!

Last week I was in a new E-Class Merc taxi in Europe and thought it was much nicer a cabin environment than I’d previously given it credit for. So while I know what you mean I think I will have to check out the GLE when it hits the showrooms.

The Velar isn’t for me personally. RRS is a possibility, more than the Disco, but they don’t seem to be getting the offers on them.

Yes, I would love a RRS, amazing vehicle. No offers because everyone (you and I included) see this and they sell like hot cakes.

I got stuck into the Porsche configurator again last night. It looks like a Cayenne Hybrid can be had for about £74,000 with some minimal kit like decent wheels with body colour arches and heated seats etc. Auto Express have it in a group test this week and they say it has a 0-60 of 4.5 seconds!

Also because it's a Hybrid it seems to come with the Chrono pack as standard and the extra Hybrid functions like remote heating / cooling etc. Also it seem like you can swap the bright yellow callipers for black if you wish!!

I wonder why it’s not eligible for the government grant

Because there is no longer a grant for hybrid vehicles (and full electric has been reduced to £3.5k).

Expensive PHEVs were excluded anyway, such as the RRS. Guess Cayenne was the same.

Does anyone know what sort of deals were available on the old x5 As a guide to what may be available in the future on the new one? Were they ever anything like the 20% plus achievable on the 3? I'm guessing not, but I've not really considered an x5 until now so have not looked into it.

@R0bb0 will know, although that was late in the lifecycle.

As six mentioned in another thread somewhere, it would be great if the presence of the X7 in the line-up (to hoover up the buyers and footballers looking for the top/premium BMW SUV) results in less demand and better deals on for the X5.

I need a change from working through lunch so probably going to head to the dealer later today for a coffee and dangerous spec chat.

Sorry, only just seen this. I think it was 16% I achieved, plus the usual bits such as fuel and service pack.
