Picking up my car this week and want to have the phone in hand...which phones do you recommend? Thanks!

Check out the thread on this site "Motorola E815 and Bluetooth" for some tips on pairing. There are two phones on the Verizon network that BMW certifies. The current one sold is the E815.

I have a motorola 710 with verizon and it works great. pairing was relatively easy -- just sat there with the BMW manual. if you don't know where Bluetooth option is on your phone, you might need your phone manual but it's easy enough to find by fumbling around in the phone menus.

if you wait a bit (the end of this year), motorola will supposedly be releasing a RAZR for Verizon so if you want something thinner/lighter than the E815, wait for the announcement and get it then.

They'll definitely be releasing the RAZR, although no one is sure when exactly. However, I heard a rumor that the price will be outrageous - $400 with a two-year plan, $600 with no plan.

I hear that the Nokia 6256i is coming to Verizon very soon. I will get it when it comes out.
I use the V710 (earlier version of 815) and love it. It has analog (815 does not) and so will the new nokia. I also think that BMW will support the address book being transferred. So Im holding on to this phone till the nokia comes out and i can try it on the 330 to make sure it transfers phonebook.

Speaking of RAZR, check thisout
http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/pro...0,,130,00.html I would be interested in getting this phone sometime next year or so if they release it for Cingular. I love my current Razr but one with a 1.2 mp camera and sd memory card sounds tempting

e815 connection
I am having trouble getting my e815 to connect to the 325Ci. The phone and car pair, but then the car indicates "Activate Phone" and I can get no further. Does anybody have an instruction manual?

I have the v710, and have had occasional problems. I went in to verizon today to get the latest software added (this is the second time ive done this), and they are replacing it with the v815 for free. I would suggest just going with the 815 to avoid all the hassle...
The verizon store told me that the reason why they have put out the 815 was partially because of all the bluetooth problems the v710 had. Yes it has the v-cast stuff on it as well, but this one is much more compatible and reliable than the V710. Ill give the verdict when the 815 comes in... |

Randyp -- it sounds like the car is seeing your phone. You now need to go into the phone's menus to switch into Bluetooth mode.
You need to be in the car with the power on. On the phone, look for the Settings menu, then Connection. You're looking for a Bluetooth choice -- you need to tell the phone to link up with another Bluetooth device. At some point, both the car and phone will want a "key" -- you can use any number as long as you use the same on each. Once they have "paired" they should be able to find each other from then on. The next time the car says "activate phone" all you hvae to do is turn it on -- or move it near the front.

Pay the $170.
Switch to Cingular. Get the RAZR.

After palying with it for a couple of hours I took the phone and the car to Verizon. The technician there tried several times and we even had BMW support on the phone. Both agreed to I should try to solve the problem with BMW.
To make a long story short, after the BMW technician lplayed with it for a while I can't get past the settings/connections/bluetooth/handsfree[look for devices]. As soon as that is executed I get "No Devices Found"...a step backward. The technician took me up to the Sales department and we tried to use their e815 phones to connect...same thing. The salesmen were stumped and they "do it all the time". I should have tried my phone on another car. I have an appointment with BMW next week. Thanks for your support!!! |

Two things:
1. Make sure the car's bluetooth is turned on. Mine wasn't from the dealer. 2. Make sure you phone is set to "discoverable" in the bluetooth menu. Also, make sure to delete any previous devices, or move the current device to Pri0 |
