There's a whole list of different reasons including having an old battery which may require a trickle charge overnight.

At the end of the day because I had an F44, it turned out that the old battery was an EFB and I needed an AGM battery to updated. Changed, coded and registered and it updated.

I had this problem with a 15-month old car. The update wouldn't start, and the dealer couldn't make it happen either. After two flat battery events, BMW Assist arrived at my home, fitted a new battery, replacing a rather warm one with a bulge in the side, and the update went immediately.

Hi there. Most likely the battery. Try a trickle charge on your battery. This worked for me. You may also have noticed the start stop. Stopped working 😃

Hi, I have the same problem and noticed on Bimmercode that the battery was at 80%. Is it easy trickle charge the battery? also where is it located in the boot or up front? I have a trickle charger but want to try your suggestion to see if the update will install.

Any advice would be great.

Hi there. Apparently your battery need to be around 12.6volts. This will allow the upgrade and the start stop will work. I use the CTEK MXS 5.0 Battery Charger with Automatic Temperature Compensation, Black. It’s a really good charger, I got mines on Amazon.

My stop start works, but to be honest I turn it off as I find the auto box can't really handle it, if you know what I mean. It always rattles when starts back up, but I will charge the battery up to 100% to see if that makes the update install.

Same problem… and my BMW app told me last day that the update 11/2023.50 expirated. My car is also on 03.2023.50.
