Creaking when going over bumps - any ideas?

Hi Guys

Im getting a creaking noise coming from the front driver side when I go over bumps.

Any thoughts? Had the same on my TT which was a wishbone and a bush.. wondering if the BMW has the same?

Cheers

Suraj

I have the same issue buddy. I noticed it only happens when it's wet/damp/cold.

I read another thread on here (after searching) that said it was bushes/topmounts. My car is due in for a service, updated map, LCI Paddle change and some other bits, so I'll let you know what the lads find.

I had this on slow bumps, and it was the anti roll bar bushes.

+1... Anti roll bar bushes. Squirt some wd40 over them, if they go quiet then get them changed.

Mine was the bump stops. BMW call them auxiliary dampers. Replaced them and all was well.

This is probably what I have had since I bought my car. I have reported it to BMW several times when my car has been in but the pitch of the noise is not in the bullshit range of the audible spectrum so they were unable to hear it.

I had this problem in a previous car and it turned out to be the ARB bushes.

I have a graunch/groaning noise over bumps. ARB bushes and the lower suspension arms have been changed but the noise is still there. Bump stops have been liberally lubricated and still a noise. Upper control arms/thrust arms will be changed this week as part of a refresh so we'll see if the noise goes away.

Just had BMW investigate and repair this same fault. I had creaking going over bumps from the front off side suspension.

It was worn top mounts. Both sides have been replaced and I am near silent over the same bumps once again!
