Are these options worth buying? Rear Sun shade and Enhanced Premium Sound
I was reading the 2008MY 0837/WD93 M3 Coupe online ordering guide and was debating on these two options: Power rear sunshade and the Enhanced Premium Sound.
What are the pros and cons with either? OT: Can the seatbelt retrievers be disabled? Someone posted that it started to make marks on his seats.

I can't see the point in rear sunshade... just wear sunglasses and you'll be fine.
As for the sound, I think Logic 7 is cheaper and sounds incredible. I guess it depends on you and how important listening to music is - personally I would get in 2 different test cars (one with logic, one with enhanced premium) and compare the two. |

Rear shade. Why not. Goes up and down. Cool. Another $550. Ok. Just add that to the other $176,000...

I have the sunshade on my e46 330. While it definately is cool and a bit novel, I very rarely use it out of necessity. The sun is rarely right behind me at the 15 or so degrees to shine right in. I would say probably skip it. It's only real use is to let the people driving behind you know you don't want to look at them and possibly piss them off, which can or can't be fun.
The enhanced stereo is definitely a must, Car = music more often than naught for me. But that is a individual thing. If you are a music listening driver, then this should be a no-brainer option. |

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91065 If Logic 7 is standard, believe me, it is awesome. If there is an upgrade to Logic 7...it should be something quite special, but if Logic 7 "is" the upgraded audio, it's a must.

I have them both in the new M3 which I picked up last week.
The sun shade is a must have in hot climates (like we have in West Australia). I have used it every day. The top of the wizza sound option is fantastic and a must have. It has sub woofers somewhere (in the dash maybe?) that make it sound nice a basey when needed. At least if you spend the doe on the upgrade you wont have to butcher your new toy with an after market stereo. Worth every cent IMO. |

Thank you for the Responses
Like one said in the previous posts, I dont like tinted windows and I also would like all the 6 option buttons filled up therefore, I'll include the Sun Shade as one of my options.
I will definitely get the enhanced premium sound option! Can someone post a picture of the sun shade in the UP position?

Just want the buttons filled up, huh? Gonna be tough since I believe one of them is for front PDC, which the US doesn't get.

Yeah I know that the front PDC's are not equipped on US Models. I'll use the PDC when I park my car in the garage backwards. I hope it saves me from knocking the walls down. LoL... I've already hit it once when I owned a Chyrsler 300M. Thanks bro...

As for weight, I would be surprised if it all weighed more than 3 lbs or so...

I have had rear sunshades on my E46 ///M3, and on my current E90 330i. I love the option. I'm not a fan of tint (...or moonroofs for that matter), so the sunshades work well in keeping the brightness out.
As for the weight, hell, the side sunshades on the sedan (...located inside the doors) probably weigh a few ounces. It's just perforated fabric with clips. It weighs nothing. The rear sunshade also weighs nothing. The motor for the rear sunshade can't weigh anymore than your average glass mug. If you want pictures, I will take some and post them here. |
