BMW warranty extended for air bag part
Got a notice today for a warranty extension on the passenger front seat occupant detection mat for a period up to 10 years from the date it came into service.
IF both the airbag warning light and the passenger air bag on/off warning light are illuminated go in for service. If the mat deactivates the passenger front and side airbags will not work

Thanks for the update!
I had this fixed under the original 4 year warranty by a US dealer before I imported my car into Canada. But I should check with my local dealer here (who has been doing all the work as needed on my car) to make sure I get included in this.

The notice was sent by BMW Canada 'in accordance with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act', and they are the ones extending the warranty coverage - don't know if BMW USA is doing the same. There is no mention of a service bulletin in the notification letter.

I believe this is a US recall.

I did not get a recall notice
After I imported the car I contacted my local dealer and mentioned the SB and BMW Canada honoured the repair

I called the customer service number today and was told they did not have the full information package as yet. They verified my information and said they will contact me when they do, so I will call back.

The letter posted by Drbvac comes from BMW Canada, and he is a Canadian resident. So it looks that BMW Canada is providing the warranty extension too.

"NHTSA also says that "owners of model year 2006-2007 3 Series with standard seats, 5 Series with comfort seats, and Z4 models, will receive an extended warranty on their front passenger seat occupant detection mat". If you have questions in the meantime, you're encouraged to contact BMW customer service at 800-525-7417 or CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com. Or, if you prefer, you can ring NHTSA directly at 888-327-4236 and ask about recall campaign #13V564000." Appears that the US Z4 will be covered under the extended warranty.
