What a travesty. Would definitely just take the comparable Mini or Golf over this.

Haldex?

Not for a BMW price. Thats where BMW lower their image.
Before you knew you buy a true xDrive with RWD bias. Now, is just a Haldex.
Plenty of good cars out there for less.

The new 1 series is a fail. NO, thank you.

As if that weren't the case for any other car...

Mercedes have MBUX standard on A class. That's digital.
Audi got xenon on their A3.

I guess Veloster N would be a better deal and it comes ready for the track.

I would buy this over any new MINI if available in the US. But do prefer the previous RWD version for looks and driving dynamics.

So it’s no stunner but it’s way better looking than the hideous Mk1 & Mk2 cars!!
So it’s fwd... it’s a family hatchback!! I’ve had some great driving fwd cars and you really shouldn’t be drifting round corners on public roads anyways! If you want a track car get a Cayman or a 2 series!!

How do you know it’s a fail? What good cars are there for less? You got to drive it before the press?

I do find it funny that the GTI/Golf R beat both generations of rwd 1er and you guys are crying about it losing rwd. I realize we're a US driven forum, but surely some of you have driven the 1er on vacation? Or even a non M 1 series or 2 series?

I've driven both generations a few times and we owned a 135i coupe. Understeering, harsh ride without commiserate handling prowess, poor packaging, cramped interiors. There's really nothing to lose with this switch. Sure, it could/should be marketed as a Mini, but aside from that, it's likely going to be a better car than the previous versions.

Still terrible shocks, even with PSS ours rode like it was mad at the road. My M Coupe drove circles around it with a shorter wheelbase and yet had a much smoother ride. Funny that my parts bin car actually felt a lot more cohesive than that thing. Of course it felt like a flawless diamond compared to our F30.

I still prefer RWD.

Wow the F30 was that bad?

There was something naughty about drifting a small hatchback. Now all the fun is gone for the sake of practicality and cost cutting.

Imagine how awesome the car's balance would have been with the current 4 cylinder turbo and RWD. I've always found AWD ridiculous in small hot hatches as they add appreciable weight.

This is just a bloated Countryman with BMW badge.

M135i's fun factor alone won Chris Harris over arguably better looking and tech of RS3 despite its ugly face.

Who in the right mind would buy this over even S3 or A35? I am almost certain it won't be offered in MT either.
