Replacement cost of parts: run flats and xenons

I'm concerned about the replacement cost of the run flat tires and the Xenon lights. Anyone have an idea about how much a set of 18" run flats will cost when the first set has worn out? Also, I've heard Xenon lamps can be very expensive.

The xenon bulbs are much more expensive than traditional halogen. But they last sooooo much longer, and they give of sooooo much more light. So value wise, HID bulbs give you much, much more for the dollar (This is a standard selling point from HID suppliers).

I believe each xenon headlight will run about $1,000

That must be for an entire headlamp assembly. I'm only talking about the bulbs.

The Xenon D1S bulbs ae listed at 129 Euro each from BMW

ive had a few burn out in my e46 days....under warrenty though :-P

should only be a few hundred...and i'd prolly get nice bluish ones!

I don't know exact figures for the tires, you could easily check out the Tire Rack link from the wheels/tires section of the forum to find out.

They should run in the several hundreds a piece though for 18" run-flat performance tires. I figure no less than $1000 to replace the set.

You shouldn't need to replace the xenon bulbs any time soon. I've only had to replace one halogen bulb on my car in the last four years. So if xenons have much longer lives its not a concern I think.

That is one of the reasons for me getting 16 for now. Them 18 are mightly expensive and living in pot hole city it just too much up keep to deal with dented rims and poped tires.

in terms of performance tires, there isnt a huge proce difference between 16s and 18s, again when we are talking about performance tires.. maybee 150-160 vs 200-220. maybee 60-70 a tire more, i think thats worth it

For me it like new tires every 1-2 yrs vs new ones or rims every couple months.

true true, ive bent many a rim in the city, but get a nice high quality 18" rim and you will be ok believe it or not.. I had a set of BBS RCs, and they took all the abuse the BQE/cross-island and FDR drive could give it

In Finland we drive with the headlights on all the time. My xenons have lasted three years so far and no bulb change yet. Once you've driven a car with them you'll never want to put up with normal headlights again.

As for replacing a run flat tire, this is going to be costly. I currently have an e46 with M72 V-Spoke "18 and my front tires cost $300 and rear around $325 non run flat. Several months back I replaced my rear tires and had the guy look up the cost on run flats same diameter and he told me that it would be over $400. Unfortunately, it cost to play.

Can run-flats be easily repaired for ordinary punctures?

In the last few months, I've had to repair tires twice. In the same time period, I also had a blow out, so I replaced two tires (can't have too much difference in treadware in the front or rear sets.) Tire repairs are a reality.

Nope, you are not allowed to repair run-flats because it will compromise the tire structurally.

I kind of worry about the run flats but the Xenon lights don't worry me at all due to the fact that warranty covers them. I really don't think that I am going to have this car for more than 4 to 5 yrs. I aleray purchased the extended warranty so I am not really worried.
