When getting the increases for the various stages, what was the base line dyno when getting those numbers? The listed factory ones are by most tests way under actual, so the increases may actually be less.

This has to be the worst advertisement from a company ever. Title reads DME Tuning - M550i OBD Tune | Stage 1 + 2 + 3 and then there is formatting issues in the initial post and then now you say there is no stage 3? I'm so confused...stage 2 is 630 / 650 so will the eventual stage 3 be 700 horsepower???
Do you know of any downpipes for the M550i? Last edited by Mach550; 07-04-2019 at 06:47 AM.. |

Do you have baseline dyno and tuned dyno stage 1?
Feel like everyone exaggerates stock HP or uses factory numbers and no one shows stock car dyno and tuned dyno on same dyno?

I live in LA and see you guys are local. Would love to get this tune as well but really want to see baseline vs actual tune. Everyone charges different prices and claims insane gains. Also, do you guys have an AWD dyno? Do you tune in the shop for locals? Would love to do a dyno and see the before and after on the spot. |

We can tune in house locally. We have a car scheduled for July 11. Will take a baseline of that car and dyno again after. That will be a stage 1 on stock downpipes.
We have a dynapack dyno and some AWD cars are a problem but we have ran AWD drive cars with no issues before. |

I have the Dinan but they say our cars push something stupid like 550 or something stock and their piggy adds 35-40hp so they call it a 590hp tune which it's not. My M5 had 600ish and my M550 with the Dinan is closer than stock but still not as fast from a 40 or 60 roll than my M5. Everything is cloke and dagger. I want same day dyno, tune, dyno figures. I guess most honest would be if customer did their own dyno runs, got the tune and went back to same dyno

That would be the best way to advertise this tune. I will keep an eye out for the before and after and will definitely schedule a visit with you guys as well once I can see some numbers. I live in tujunga and would prefer a local tune than something shipped to me. Makes it more personal! |

There is absolutely no way this car 2019 M550 is puting out 540hp stock HP! It's Common sense, Dinan came up with same number on "2seperate dynos"? There's not any chance, it's not possible. I'll put bypass plug in and dyno and put $1000 cash on the line it's not going to lay down 490RWHP stock period! I'll also put another $1000 down with the Dinan it's not putting down 530 to550 to the wheels on a mustang dyno. I've tuned, built and raced a shit ton of BMW's, vetts, LS1,2 and 6 engines, 3 series, M5's(2 of them) , V10 M6's one with tune and one with Dinan, all my own cars. Meaning I'm not just shooting off in the dark about numbers. On another side, It's funny we're talking about the engine putting out 80hp more than stated, and them rating the 2020 at 532hp. Agreed the have underestimated power but not by the amount Dinan does without the wheels and hooked up to lug nuts for the runs on "a car". Ive dyno'd many many cars, raced, tested and done enough runs over and over to know my car with Dinan may be 510-520 to the crank, period. I welcome Paypal payment

My beef is with #'s front and back. Am I the only one who wants to know really the actual power base line and gains per tune? I've seen dinans web page, post and claims. My car isn't putting out the numbers stock they say it is. That's why all the reviews are vague for the initial 606hp claim, and revised to 590 hp? Put my car against a new M5 on 1/4 mile, half mile and it's clear. That's all I don't like people being misled by marketing. As a consumer I'd love some actual facts, I think we all would.

The link I posted talks about their dyno testing on two separate machines, as well as how they lowered the tune for retail after press car testing. Would I love to see a video and reports of the tests, sure. The car is way underrated by BMW, that's a fact.

Don't think the "issue" with Dinan is the wheel HP figures they are claiming for the n63tu2 M550i, more so the at crank figures with the 20% awd drivetrain loss which may be a bit inflated. Dinan measured 430/490 hp and torque stock to the wheels, and an independent tuner I found on IG measured 427/457 hp and torque stock to the wheels; so while Dinan torque is a bit higher, the hp is on the money. Just to compare, Gintani (fairly reputable tuner in so cal) measured 460/515 hp and torque to the wheels stock, so by seeing these the n63tu2 dyno numbers are believable. In general I feel everyone for these AWD tt v8s are using 20-25% drivetrain losses which is why the "700hp" numbers are being thrown out for stock E63s's and M5 competitions. More than likely with these cars the drivetrain losses are not as much as everyone is claiming, and really nobody will know the exact losses for these drivetrains. |

I saw that post, trying to find out if local 4wheel dyno place has dynoJet or mustang dyno. DynoJets are known to read 10-15% higher than mustang dyno's. I been told it's the loading method of mustang dyno's that pulls real #'s and why they are lower. Mustang dyno's have been known to hurt feelings but that's also why I've always used them so I get real figures. If that's true or not I don't know, but what I've been told and read over the years.

i have no doubt about the figures these cars are putting out to the wheels on the dyno, but the question is, how much drivetrain loss there is. and also keep in mind when you compare your m550i to the m5 you previously had, stock 2014 M5 Competitions dyno 560/490 to the wheels on dynojet, which is wayyyy more than what a "600 hp" dinan m550i puts out on a dyno. https://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=962214 so while dinan "claims" 600 hp for these tuned M550i's..the m5 you previously had was way over 600 hp that's why your previous m5 still feels considerably faster, especially off roll speeds. all in all, these cars are all underrated and big HP figures are thrown out like nothing, but ultimately a m550i needs a stage 2 tune and downpipes to be able to beat a stock 2014 M5 COMP off a roll IMO.. |
