So generally 1.5-2.8" wider

M235 front track: 59.9"

M2: predicted 61.4-62.2" (won't be wider than an M4)
Most relevant imo is that the e92 was 60.6, which is identical to the 1m.

To me, logic dictates that the m3/4 track width will be equal to that of the m2. Makes sense since the suspension components are shared.

Oh yes, it is - a lens peripheral distortion so typical to the cheap lens in smartphones and alike. If you look at my R photo below (standing next to my previous BMW - the F10 - now replaced by the M235i thankfully) - you almost could think the R is longer! And that's in spite the fact the distance from my iPhone crappy lens is longer for the R than for the F10... A very similar thin's happening to the M2 in this thread opening movie - of course this is by no means to say it isn't substantially wider than the "next best thing", but the difference only exists in the lower part of the body and the wheels widths and tracks...

Agreed. Same wheels and same track width shared between the M2/3/4.

Btw, I'd be very curious to hear your take on the M2 since you've already owned an F80.

Well having owned an M235i with M Perf exhaust and as a current F82 owner...I think this just might sound better than both.

M2 could be back on my radar. I really hope it does get a few wow surprise factors.

Fir the 6MT are we thinking the F8X box?

That wide body. I love my M235i but MAN, I'm going to have to upgrade already.

The owner should be able to have active sound coded off if that is what they want. I really like my non I-drive 135i with it's old style dash and no computer display. What's wrong with simple?

I wonder if the M2 will actually perform closer to the F8x knowing that the LCI, ZCP and the GTS/CSL are coming. The F8x will be the choice for more room/prestige. Even with the N55 it's not like you couldn't add the direct charge intercooler to it. I'm sure there are ports for the water injection but I could be wrong about that. BMW has already sold so many F8x it's not like the M2 will fully cannibalize their sales. The prestige of the F8x is that it provides the ideal blend of power/luxury/space/agility over the smaller packages of corvettes and P-cars etc. It seems that the F8x ruined the day for the M5 in some regards. But since the M2 is the the right size, I believe that BMW could regain some of the character it lost by going bigger and not as sport-oriented. The M2 in the video sounds like an angrier/more pissed off version of the N55 MPPK/exhaust combo without as much room for the sound to attenuate.

Here's a more realistic comparison. The M2 picture is no longer "stretched".

Many thanks for adjusting the relative photo scales... the M2 looks great!

I have started looking at cayman GTS and love the way this thing sounds. Different types of cars/engines I know but if the M2 can end up having some kind of unique deep exotic sound that would be great. I just thought of the RS3 as well. BMW need to design it so you get nice crackles and pops on the overruns and blips.
what's wrong with the M4 sound? heard it a bunch and it's throaty and mean!

its lack of excitement above 6000rpm. There is no need to anyway given monster torque. The exhaust sounds like a lawn mower, an angry cow, a Honda civic etc

Wow that middle side by side of the series really shows that rear M2 width now!
