OMG!
Was I shocked today when a plumbing truck and I passed each other on a narrow street and his side-mounted pipe rack virtually ripped my side mirror off! I'll take a photo for you this weekend and post it. Anyways, $1000 bucks and a couple of days in the body shop and all will be well again. The glass of the mirror smacked the widow of the car so hard it scratched the window glass, so it must be replaced too.
I'm seriously grieving but I will survive. As the old saying goes, sh*t happens. Dang! P.S. Haven't been posting for the last couple a weeks as I moved to a new house (in the same community) and have been ultra busy. Hell I'm still busy! LOL! I'll be back as soon as time permits. |

Oh God, that does suck! Sorry to hear that. $1000 huh? Ahhh! I was going to say if only the mirror has to be replaced, it isn't that big of a deal, but if it scratched the window....that sucks!
Well, good luck getting it fixed and good luck with your new home . It's good to see you back on the forum! |

Yep, the mirror parts alone total about 600. I think there's three or four pieces that make up the complete unit . . . also the electric window closing mechanism needs to be calibrated by the dealer after it's been replaced. I've got the estimate breakdown out in my car in the garage but I'm too lazy to go out and get it tonight. In the meantime I went to my local auto supply and bought a convex mirror to stick where the original mirror was so I don't get in another accident! Anyway, maybe I'll expound on this further over the coming weekend. Thanks again for the kind words. |

i feel your pain bro. I hit a deer last nite going about 15 mph after slamming on the brakes. My hood and right kidney grill are both dented in as well as part of the front bumper.
Hopefully my body shop will be able to fix it without ordering any new parts. |
