were biased here (its a bmw board lol) but I tested the IS and the GS and didnt like either of them. The styling on the 330xi is lightyears ahead of the GS

"DESPITE THEIR CLASS DIFFERENCE." Your caveat is noted but based on this, why the question? Apples vs. apples= good; Apples vs. oranges=no comparison. In other words, what's the point?

If I really wanted a 4WD, i'll go for an RX350

4WD on the BMW seems like a waste- you mess up the handling, accelleration and have a higher ride height as compared to the RWD's.

The GS on the other hand is not a handler, not an accellerator and ride height is already high- so there is really not much "tradeoff" in getting it in AWD.

I don't want to start a RWD vs AWD argument here, but I've been extremely happy with the handling and acceleration that the 330xi gives in normal and especially in icy and snowy situations.

the point is, what would you do with the $50,000. Go spend it all on the GS300 or go buy a 330xi and save some. This is a valid question, same as comparing one brand from the next, I'm simply comparing one class from the next. There's obviously no point in comparing a 5er to a 3er.

I appreciate everyone's constructive comments. If you don't like my stupid thread, then just click "next thread" and go on with your lives. I do the same when I see your stupid threads and don't say anything. I was just wondering something.

330xi rocks. I don't care for the lexus styling. I also don't care for the size of cars in the GS/5er class.
Lastly, I don't care to listen to the xi v. i arguments. Rarely will most of the posters notice the difference between the two, unless they are in heavy rain or snow, and they crash their i.

Fully agree with joes3 on this. I've driven my xi through the twisties and it handled like a champ. I've also pulled into heavy traffic during a downpour on rain slicked streets - quickly accelerating to traffic speed from a complete stop with ZERO wheel spin. It's a great car for people who want to have fun on the curves and still have control in rain, ice etc... (and no.. not at high reckless idiocy speed - but at safe 'for the conditions' speeds). Okay I'm out - no AWD vs RWD arguments for me. Just my experiences and thought on my car.
